    god i remember that - and sitting on a 2400 baud modem.. what a wonder the web was at that time.. I don't know which was worse, those stuck at 2400baud or those without a math-co for .jpg decoding. sadly i was both..

    yea.. opps.. it has been so long sence i used a 1x yea.. the 150KB just always stuck in my head.. hummm i wonder then exactly what the 1x value of dvd's and the other crap are now.. i know flash memory uses the 150KB/s

    sorry about that.. and thank for bringing me back my memory of cartrige loading cd burnners..

    actualy the X isthe same for CD's as Compaft Flash cards 1x = 150KB/s = 153,600B/s = 1,228,800b/s = 0.146MB/s

    honestly it doesn't bother me that they did that.. although i do agree that DVD/Blu-Ray/HD-DVD should have stuck to the same damn unit of measurement... but they kinda did ..

    see the orginal 1x. ment you chould burn a full cd in 1 hour .. 2x ment 30min.. and if i am correct that is what they are doing for DVD/Blu-Ray/HD-DVD.. soo to figure out the rate

    (diskSize/((60*60)/(xRating)))'s

    note that that is only for disk media and not how flash memory is done.. flash is still 1x = 150KB's

    i always loved the errors.. we would be out on the boat.. GPS mounted on the dash (4-5 ft above the water line) and it would tell me i was any where from 500 ft + - sea level.. kinda fun really

    i know what you mean.. my desktop i am using right now has an IBM 36gb scsi drive that is pushing 9 years as we speak.. wonderful drives - they truly just don't make them like they used to ... on the other hand just for the sake of it (and it's age) i have a seagate 9.1gb scsi drive that takes up 3x5.1/4 bay's - it was one of the first 9gb drives on the market.. still running.. on a duel p pro running slackware.. it keeps right on chugging away and keep spam out of my mail box..

    on the other hand i have 4 wd 250gb ide drives on my desk that give smart errors and just are damn flaky... what can i say.. you get what you pay for.

    well after reading up about it (was trying to figure out what the hoped shelf live is for them) i noticed they are looking to deliver this in 2011 .. which means.. screw it.. something else/someone else will come up with something better or comprable by then.. 3/4 years should be several generations in computing terms .. none news in my mind

    well IF i was currently burning our company archives every week to dual layer dvd's.. this thing at 300$ per 700gb +3k burnner would pay for it's self in savings over DLDVD media in 54 weeks.. 1 year to realize cost savings on a small 3k$ investment is nothing for a company..

    we had a guy once that SOME HOW managed to shove a P8 connector into a wd hard drive with out realizing it, turned it on and went to the bathroom while it booted.. all i remember was sitting at the register checking someone out and seeing smoke coming from behind the tech bench.. walked over and the damn thing had caught on fire.... thank god they fired him a few years later...................

    but the idea with this is that it is "soked" up - the question is will it keep it simi seprated in smaller cells that might cause this problem to be less of an impact..

    make note that the orginal post i made was in responce to someone talking about this bringing Li ahead of the futrure use of capasitors - which do not have this problem in any way.. (untill they leak)

    which still is an issue.. if the 50% mark is best.. thenwhat is the point of a 3 hour battery if using it more than 1.5 hours will damage it? might as well stuck with much cheaper NiCd where you use it for the full 1.5 hours..

    no i am talking Lithum batteries here.. if you have owned a laptop for more than 2 years (the same laptop and battery) you will notice it .. i use my laptop all the time.. what once was a 3 hour battery now lasts 45min .. it is annoying as hell... but what is more annoying is they claim that doesn't happen.. but it does.....

    i wonder if this helps with the "memory" problem that laptop batteries have.. i don't care what they say.. anyone that has ever used them know that this effect still exists and is a pain in the royal ass....

    While i agree that Destroying evidence is a "bad thing" i do have to wonder what has happened recently.. it seems now days that people have to prove their inoccence while it should be the other way around.. people should be inoccent until proven guilty - if they didn't have the evedice to prove guilt before things where destroyed i have to wonder what they where ttying to do..

    it seems to me that these things are going .. person A accuess person B .. person B has to show that they didn't do anything wrong - and if they can't then they are wrong.. it is a sad trend and i hope it stops..

    i am all for people being punished for wrong doings but person A should have sufficent proof of guilt of person B before accusing person B

    i think it is just a trend in recent history to make things replaceable..

    Here at work we have 7 hp laserjet 4mp's easy to fix cheap to run.. and if one does have a bad day (more than one part failing at once) i can pick up one used as hell for about 100$ they are work horses.. in the past 6 years we have had to replace 1.. they all have page counts coming close to 1m if not over.. they where built to last.. same with the 2 2100's we have.. compare that to the newer 3380.. that thing while nice.. needs a new fuser every 50k pages.. and it doesn't just fail.. it falls apart and the film breaks off and jams gears.. cost me about 300$ to replace the fuser and fix the damage it caused monday.. reading up on it.. this is the normal way it fails..

    same with ink jets.. i have an hp 550c (first color/black ink jet with with seprate color and black that didn't need to be swaped) the damn thing still runs.. i had to replace a corke paper feed pad about 3 years ago.. still running solid.. the deskjet 932c i have on the other hand refuses to print without cleaning the heads.. and likes to eat ink for no damn good reason.. and jams like crazy.. after 2 years of decent use... it now sits in the trash..

    true true true.. although that seems more like a bandaid than a solution.. the controler (depending on how it is setup to interface) shouldn't use any more power than the touch wheel does.. i don't know if they have the ability to power off that part - but make it so that when the "game controler" is connected the touch wheel is turned off.. although then you limit function ality.. still an itresting idea...

    that isn't a bad idea.. when you said the controller attachment - i first tought what Nintendo could do with that.. and porting their games over.. just got to make sure it isn't power drain.. but they are good with that already

    i can't see how i got a troll for that - i was posting that with the unnoted refrence to my sig... i mean this "back door" isnt' even confirmed - it is jsut someones idea that it "might" exist.. without proof though you don't know - so MS is using it - sure give them bad press if it is "known to have" a "back door" but really without proof what do you have other than random people trolling about nothing..

    come to think about it my comment isn't any better than the rest of the people's here.. feel free to read my sig and troll away..
