Sonic The Hedgehog Coming to the iPod

mrneutron2003 writes "Sega has announced that Sonic the Hedgehog will be a new gaming option on the iPod. They're looking to charge about 4.99 for the classic title. 'Support is slated for the iPod nano with video, iPod classic, and fifth generation iPods ... Sega hopes that tremendous install base of the iPod family will lend to exposing a whole new audience to the old time wonders of Sonic The Hedgehog. The game has apparently been redesigned with the iPod in mind and should provide good port experience.'"

With your other hand, slide you should be able to stick your thumb in place to press the click button. It may not be optimal, but I could see it working well. I'm not sure if this is the control scheme that they are using, but that's just what I thought up in the first 30 seconds. I'm sure somebody who was being paid to make the control scheme to work could come up with a much better idea.

I own PacMan on the iPod, and you don't need to slide, you just need to touch the direction you want to go. Pretty simple control scheme actually.

So having not much experience with iPod games, it's the first thing that popped into my head. I like your solution also. Sounds a little simpler than mine. Here's a better idea, that nice little plug on the bottom where you hook up the USB cable would be perfect for plugging in a secondary controller that could be used for games. If somebody put out one of those for the iPod, I think iPod gaming could really take off. With their install base, they might even be able to take on Nintendo.
