Did not one of you ever think I meant next-generation in fun, on a mass-communication effort that has yet to be done in mmo's. As a server programmer I can tell you the player density issues alone on seamless mmo's haven't been exploited to thier full potential and anybody who thinks a fucking 'RPG' is going to be the kind needs to wake up and realize that other genre's have way bigger markets; just no one has made thier mmo, yet.

As a former Blizzard employee I can attest that I did not see very much innovation in the hallways. Passion is spewing from the halls and dedication to the utmost fun experience is what holds that ship together; maybe one day they will try it with brand new ideas...

I have no doubt that World of Warcraft will become the usurper of the throne and easily claim the #1 MMO spot globally but what I have not yet seen much of is "Who will dethrone the new king in years to come?"

You know it is an inevitable. I ACTUALLY know it is inevtiable, hell I've worked on the code and tools. You can feel it in your soul and you can know it just by the fact that technology always expands to such a point that games are antiquated and no longer "Stunning."

Gaming industry, when oh when are you braking out your next stunners?

A true 'Killer Application' mmo has not been created, and world of warcraft is not it. Killer apps force consumers to go out and buy hardware just for the expience being so damn 'killer fun.' In other words, I can't wait for the mmo that breaks out and makes people go out and buy computers or consoles (ps3, xbox360 would be nice...)

That's the game I am interested in playing.

  9. Identification Crisis on U.S. National Identity Cards All But Law · · Score: 1

The fundamental flaw with any form of identification is truthfully likning it to the proper owner as no doubtedly there is going to be some previous form of identification (existence) that is required to get the new form of identfication (control/tracking) but if you only need present a subset of information to get the new form of identification the no doubtedly it will ALWAYS be able to be spoofed. The real issue here that should be looked at is accountability for ones actions being tracked through an identification system that is not robust enough to combat the issues. If we first remove accountability by actually listening to the truth involved in each case in stead of the spoofed identification then we can fundamentally see the barriers in identity theft as a virable source of income shrinking in the work place. In other words, if we make it so your identification papers have an overall less impact on your life then all life will fundamentally be better for both the people whom have lost thier identities as well as those who no longer pursue it because there is no edge to gain.

Fundamentally reassising all our laws that require accountability and reducing them to the most basic subset that is required for peace and happiness in our society should be the first goal of our nation before we think about tagging everybody like cattle. How accountable do I really need to be in this life if I forgot to take a blockbuster movie back for 6 days? It doesn't feel that important to me, what about you?

Security is possible but the spec will take much time to figure out and it should definately be put to a practice run before commercial distribution ensues.

Why not allow for an at boot time wireless devices configuration protocol to allow hardware devices to be completely independant of the motherboard itself? The BIOS/CMOS would still be configurable to restrict which components would be allowed and new devices detected at boot could be prompted by HARDWARE before OS loading ensues. The interoperability of this could drastically change the world as we know it people. =)
