The logical extension to this thought process is that the government gets to choose what is best for us on an individual level. The idea that our safety requires the loss of due process (aka Patriot Act) makes me believe the next decision will be which of us need to die in order for the body politic to thrive. It's happened before over and over.
Because when your mom is named Obama, it's okay to lie about assisting to kill a federal agent through policy, wage war on other countries, kill citizens without due process, lie about terrorist attacks your State department could have prevented if properly protected, and increase the power of the police state because you really understand how the middle class feels.
