  1. "Plenty of work to do"? on Fired for Solitare At Work · · Score: 1

Since when is "plenty of work" a guarantee that an employee won't play plenty of solitaire? Maybe he just didn't give a damn about his work.

  2. Re:Global Warming Good on 20th Century Warmest In 1200 Years · · Score: 1
I often wonder what the world would be like if every year the north and south poles melted. Would the entire world turn into a humid tropical paradise?

Move to New Orleans and you'll have your answer right away!

  3. Re:Simple. on Where Do All of the Old Programmers Go? · · Score: 1

I actually came across a young programmer who boasted about his "high productivity", which he measured, believe it or not, by the number of lines of code he wrote in a day. He only lasted 3 months in that job, by they way. You're not going to be a good programmer when you don't even realize was "good" is.

I wonder if Jefferson ever told his slaves about his opinions on rights...

  5. The movie Armageddon on Using Gravity To Tow Asteroids · · Score: 1

Remember, it's easier to train drillers to be astronauts than to train astronauts to drill. :)

  6. Dagger on Marvel Gets Cash to do 10 Films · · Score: 2, Funny

If Dagger isn't some serious eye candy, I'm not watching!

  7. Re:Easy. Nuke Mars. on Terraforming - Human Destiny or Hubris? · · Score: 1

Wouldn't work. Mars is too small to hold onto O2. It would just bleed off into space.

  8. Re:Blame Berman and Braga on Trek Producers Will Provide World A Break · · Score: 1

Unfortunately they retooled the show after losing too much of their audience. I haven't watched an episiode in years.

  9. Blame Berman and Braga on Trek Producers Will Provide World A Break · · Score: 4, Insightful

Leave it to the producers to blame anything or anyone but themselves! If they had some original IDEAS and good WRITING, Enterprise would be an enduring hit, and people would prefer it to reruns of the other series. They need people in charge who will think outside the cookie-cutter.
