  1. ??? This is a stunt... on Gates of Troy Gold Master Stolen, Delayed · · Score: 1

    1) First of all, the image of the "gold master" is obviously sitting on at least one machine back in their offices, and is almost certainly backed up securely in several different places
    2) As others have pointed out, if whoever they're sending it to doesn't have FTP capabilities, they're not a legitimate destination, so it's no big deal on the timing
    3) If this is really the "gold master", it's literally bit-for-bit what's going to be in boxes in the store (or available online). There's no advantage to any "thief" of posting/duping the GM as opposed to what they could buy retail

The only possible advantage a thief could get is saving the price of buying a copy, and maybe a couple of weeks lead time before the game might appear on the shelf. Doesn't make much sense to me.

  2. Totally Random (#5-Lorenzo Lamas, #6-Ariel Sharon) on Eigenfaces Online Service · · Score: 1

I sh*t you not--my #5 match was Lorenzo Lamas, and the "next closest" was _Ariel Sharon_. I'm not saying that it's really _nothing but_ a random image picker under the hood...only that the results they're generating right now are no more useful (and no more accurate) than one.

  3. The composite material would form the seal, right? on Metal Velcro · · Score: 4, Interesting

I think you've got a point if you're just going to leave the surface exposed to normal air once it's been sculpted, but assuming that you weren't careless in storing it till it's used, then once the composite's been bonded to it, that should take care of any rusting problem, right?

This isn't meant for surfaces that are meant to stay exposed--it's a method to prepare them for some kind of further use, like composite bonding.

  4. Trailers _always_ crib music on Pixar's Next Movie: The Incredibles · · Score: 2, Informative

That's just standard industry practice (q. 4). By the time an early trailer like this one needs to be ready, the soundtrack's still probably being _composed_. Even "coming next week" trailers often use music that has nothing to do with the actual film. (How many times have you heard the "Carmina Burana" during a trailer?)
