Same goes for IR support on lapotops, to a certain extent power saving, and multi-screen or TV-setups. When I have the cash and incentive I'm getting a laptop made (configured) for Linux. If it works 100% (>98.3%:P) i'll become a true linux zealot:)
I'm not a server operator, i'm more of a web developer. I have tried to get FreeBSD5.4+Apache1.3+Mysql+PHP4 running on at home, an old 'test-server' and it's a bit hard to get it 100% right (it now only lacks session suport). I suppose this is the job of the IT admin, but FreeBSD lags a bit behind Windows in the 'it-just-works department' IMHO.

Can this again help reducing bandwidth consumption in a similar, but prettier way, than html frames?
many times have I heard oss enthusiasts bashing ms fornot including a proper {text, graphics} editing tool in windows? well, rejoice! (don't use it if you don't like it)
Is public domain software with source code 'free'? I certainly think so. Otherwise 'they' are redefining the term free! Actually, the term freedom can't be applied to software without making a new definition for it.
And the analogy with the web kind of breaks when common files has nothing similar to hyperlinks. An important function of folders is to keep related files together. It would require rater elaborate searches to find a set of files that aren't obviously related (for the computer).
The MS page detects Opera, and serves the page with less "features", even when Opera identifies itself as IE, and that is probably why Opera seems to be unaffected by the bug.
I tried every combination of tabs and windows, and even opened the MS page twice (the text could be read that way) and the exploit didn't work in Opera 8.0 (Win2k):)

OOo 1.4: 22 sec MSWord 2003: 4 sec Outlook had been opened before (too lazy for a reboot). OOo 2nd: ~2 sec, MSW 2nd: 1 sec

It'll be there with the new MS WinFS. It's how they force you into the evil world of metadata Search!
