It'd be neat to see like Microsoft offering Openoffice with their windows, and say "if you like this, you might like microft office" or whatever. Just some food for thought.
In my opinion, and I learned video games this way too, the parent should teach the child that it's all fake and none of it is real. I bet those kids who actually do kill sort of confuse games with reality and in that sense sort of don't know what is "right", if you will.
Indeed, it probably would. It also provides a little entertainment for those with an interesting sense of humor. Like watching someone's head get shot off or blown to bits is pretty damn funny to me, yet in real life, I'd be a bit mortified.

Dude, X is Linux's window system, at least for most distro's. KDE is just a way of doing X for linux. And since you're using BSD, I dunno if X is used. As far as security, as the others say it's no vulnerability.
Well, IMHO science means anything is possible unless you disprove it. If it hasn't been proven or disproven and it sounds reasonable (not like the moon is made of cheese or anything along those lines), it's pretty much a guess, if you will. I like to keep an open mind, so even religions are possible.

That's it! Asta la Vista is perfect for their name, considering the spanish translation of that is "shaft the view". I think that accurately describes what windoze will do to your compy.
Yeah, it should be. I mean, if you quit your job and can't work another job in the same career for x months, how the hell are you going to pay the bills? Fast food doesn't pay you enough.
Like 95% of the/.ers here, I lean toward Linux more than any other OS. I know this is sort of off topic here, but I can't figure out a good distro for playing my games, and good with my ATI 9600XT. Any suggestions?
In my years of freelancing PC repair, I've found that the customers are more satisfied in knowing exactly what I'm doing. I sort of explain things in their terms a bit.
What I'm saying here is, think about the percentage of people in the world who can actually use a computer competently. I'm pretty sure, like said among the other comments, that most of the world will continue to buy these books regardless.
This is true. Back in my middle school days, almost everyone hated P.E. Except for those who were already in sports like basketball and whatever. This is why we need to think up funner ways to exercise than just making the kids run around the track or college style wrestle until they fall over. I mean, is it that hard to see that the kids aren't having any fun?
I see what you're saying here, but maybe we shouldn't force healthy foods down the kids' throats, man. I'm pretty sure that the schools would loose a signifigant amount of revenue when getting rid of the pop machines, too.

...you will now be able to shoot at your computer harmlessly when angry. Sorta sounds like fun.
