That sounds like something the White House might say about something like a Hurricane touching down somewhere like New Orleans.

My mother's name is hyphenated. It's just Maidenname-Familyname. I take my father's name, which isn't hypenated. So what it comes down to is a woman somewhere up the line who's too uppity to just take her husband's name and be done with it.

Except that we don't really know for sure what sleep is for. Granted, people who don't sleep perform worse cognitively, but if there's a drug that erases that deficeit and has no other negative side-effects, why not? Think about how many more Slashdot stories you could comment on if you never had to sleep!

That logic is flawed. Pacificists would never get a thrill out of killing--it's against their nature, obviously. On the same token, most soliders probably don't find any thrill in killing, either. But trouble-making kids, who get bored and want to do something exciting, can get that excitement from a video game instead of stealing a car. It's not to say that everyone has a threshold of "thrill" that they have to meet, but instead that kids who would've gone out to cause trouble are instead staying home and playing video games.

But if you're Steve Jobs you don't need to get a job at Apple; you may as well start your own.
