    I don't believe there is a scientific reason for it. I think this was just the range that the FCC allocated as usable for this purpose (and other purposes).
    This band, plus the ISM 5Ghz band.

    And on the other, other hand, WIPO is as toothless as the UN, and I don't think anyone is in any position to hurt China, or even attempt to. We can't force them to do anything they don't want to do. And that includes not giving money to Disney because they have a Disney themed park in their country.

    You would change the date in your BIOS before attempting any such nonsense, to a date several months earlier before installing the OS on the new drive.
    No scripts needed to alter timestamps.
    Then change the date, a day or week at a time, and reboot, do a little websurfing, etc, to build up a few files with timestamps in between install date and the current date.

    No, it said the earlier order specified that an RIAA's person was to make the image. The new order says agreed upon expert.

    And I agree, it does actually sound pretty reasonable.
    Regardless, anyone who gets a subpoena from the RIAA should be smart enough to swap out hard drives and install a new OS before the case even gets that far anyway. Assuming they have something to hide. Seems pointless really.

    Who banned the act of drinking unapproved rainwater, the local (likely paid off) government, or corporate contract?

    Until all this EULA bs is proven or denied in a court all this debate is toothless. Abiding by the EULA is just playing it safe, but not yet a proven requirement.

    So if Sony includes a EULA notice inside the packaging for my new Incubus CD, (assuming I'd even buy a CD from sony *snicker*) proclaiming that I an only licensed to play it on Sony brand CD players, you think that's legally binding?
    And Sony could sue and win if they found out I was playing it on a Pioneer?
    Music is classed as IP.
    This example is just as stupid (and unenforceable) as MS telling you what kind of machine you're allowed to install on (real vs virtual).

    You do know, XP will not automatically shut down if you start missing patch Tuesdays. I keep my windows update disabled permanently. None of mine have any problems.

    But here's the problem - This time they know exactly how much you're willing to pay. The next time they'll be able to shill-bid you up to the amount you bid before you dropped out.

    Assuming one is dumb enough to attempt to buy another item from that same seller, you have a point.
    If I think a seller is artificially driving bids up on one auction, I blacklist him forever. I have a little list of names I won't buy from for reasons like that.
