Oh my, I was off by 8% on half of my data and 100% correct on the other half, that gives us 96% correctness, yet you point out I'm not interested in correct information? CUTE!
Now please go around singing some Nazi song and see if you're not arrested. That's free speech for you.
Yeah, safe mode should really fall back to such drivers. I can not understand why they didn't design it to be failsafe. Maybe the recovery console might help in such cases? I don't know what drivers it uses.
does Vista dump if you change your motherboard like XP does because of the IDE drivers only being changeable during an install? That has never been the case, you can simply disable your current drivers, swap mobo and it will work just fine. It will install the correct drivers on first boot. I've done it a few times in a row and it never fails. Well I suppose it would fail if you put in an unsupported chipset, in which case just install the drivers before the swap.
Apparently *they* see why they want to spend their time elsewhere. I like Debian, too, but the problem/beauty with OSS is exactly that it gets fragmented easily: this provides for both agility/flexibility and unnecessary waste at the same time.
It's kinda like freedom, come to think of it:)
Anyway, I don't think that those guys who work on their pet distros in their basements would make a noticeable difference, if they were to join big projects like Debian or Gentoo.
+1, Libertarian.
Why is it so easy to convince people that "we are passing this law for your own good"? If it were really for your own good you'd have done it already. Even if it's a tragedy of the commons scenery, the gov't has no rights ANYWAY to tell you how to behave.
Your thoughts about Apple are mostly correct but yougot the PC thing really wrong - in fact, it is the very kind of chip inside a computer that determines if it is a "PC" or not. "PC" used to be a trademark, owned by IBM, and was later extended to include all kinds of x86-based computers (see "IBM or compatible PC" on old software). Today, "PC" means (at least, that's how most people regard it) a computer running its OS on a x86 (or its clone). PPC, Spark-based etc computers CANNOT be PCs. Even though I do have a personal G3, it's still not a PC.
Agreed, but you don't want to live in a black cloud of unhealthy fumes. You really don't. NUCLEAR is the answer.
Be happy. My country banned nuclear energy in the 80's, at least you can use it.

I suppose one could also use pdf2ps or some such. But PP was talking about OpenOffice.org.

OpenOffice.org does NOT have PDF viewing capabilities. What are you talking about?
Excuse me but if you put such a vague word as "unreasonable" in the constitution, then you get what you deserve: vague, variable "interpretations" of the "spirit" of the law and its writer's "intention". THAT's why you need absolutes in laws rather than the idiocy you can read in any contemporary legislative document. Your constitution did a better job but still fails, precisely because of these somewhat wide cracks. Remember that the more flexible something is, the more it will be distorted - for good or for worse! Just think about the second amendment, which you most certainly hate with all your forces.
I'm sorry then, I thought you were being serious. Anyway I wasn't criticizing your parenting skills. Rather, I was pointing out it doesn't make sense to whine about wages like I thought you were doing.
Oh I see. Censorship is good as long as it oppresses the other side. Typical.
Your point being?
Besides... GODDAMN GOVERNMENT. There. I see no policemen coming to get me.
Like many other people you mistake "not being OK" with "deserving to be forbidden by the gov't".
Yeah, uhm, it's not like anyone means "police state" *seriously* when talking about the USA. FYI.

Yes, as demonstrated by anti free speech laws and 50% income tax. Definitely respectful of individual freedom!
And prices of components will come down faster than usual - I for one welcome our new discounted video cards overlords :D

That's really funny, because today's Macs ARE PCs.
No, they are either unwieldy or simply *not enough*. Nuclear's only disadvantage is a high setup cost.
A more pleasant solution would be the acquisition of more natural resources, by means of e.g. space exploration/colonization.
How about you just don't buy it?

Advice from someone who thinks personal responsibility is a bad thing is *so* appreciated.
Wow, jaded much?
Problem is, I agree with your general idea...
The confirmed spammer has his funds safely locked up in Vanuatu and Panama, now try and confiscate them.

Everyone else seems to be doing fine, maybe it's just you who sucks.
