Fragmentation of data doesn't even affect the speed.
Is this completely true? Because benchmarks show that even SSDs can read larger chunks much faster than small ones. So if a big file exists mostly on adjacent flash cells, it would be faster to read? Of course operating system -level defragmentation might not be very useful because the physical data might be mapped into completely different areas due to wear leveling. Thus the drive would have to perform defragmentation internally.
However, their laptops look like cheap knockoffs of MacBooks.
The HP Envy machines do look like MacBook Air. Others? No. The common EliteBook, ProBook, and the consumer 6xx/2xx or Pavilion line do not look like MacBooks. They are your basic sleek black machine.
A ROCK SOLID home multifunction office machine. Rock Solid meaning slick bomb-proof drivers as well as a machine that didn't crap out on a black and white report because the yellow ink was low.
Ok, so current HP cheapo multifunction machines are not garbage at all. Case in point: HP 3070A. Does not crap out on B/W report because the yellow ink was low. Super easy to use. No bugs either on computer driver side or printer firmware. Wireless printing and scanning work flawlessly. You can even choose the scan function on the printer, a list of hostnames pops up on the printer LCD, you select one and press OK, after scanning your My Documents on your computer pops open automatically with the document in it. All this works perfectly under Linux too, thanks to the "hplip" project. I'm not joking. This HP machine has brought me a lot of value.
No, I don't. Of your list of drugs (which included both recreational drugs and medicinal drugs), some of them might increase a person's gaming capabilities, while some of them might dampen a person's gaming capabilities. So what?
every damn time people anywhere talk about "drugs" and their effects we need to **compare** it to other similar things!
I do not see why that would be necessary. You don't need to review other drugs to see how marijuana affects a person.
There seems to always be the obligatory "didn't we all know this already" comment in these NSA discussions. Every time it can be found. I'm tired of it.
No, we didn't know. Beginning with the revelations by Edward Snowden, people's eyes have constantly opened more and more to the things that are happening behind the scenes. Some of it is crazy Orwellian crap that many of us couldn't make up in their wildest dreams.
You can buy a cheap dodo printer, but the hidden costs are in the crackers, which you need to acquire to keep the printer running. A bag of crackers costs more than the dodo.
2 years later: "Yeah, Wayland has RDP support... But it's kind of broken and buggy. It requires these patches to be applied, manual creation of this 1000-line configuration file, and the sessions have always to be started from command line. Also, you have to use this certain distro. We are waiting it to be fixed, but the component has insufficient manpower and resources for the task to ever be actually completed anyway. Just use VNC, sigh..."
Unusually for a modern FPS, the game has no multiplayer element... included with the initial purchase.
Oh, sorry; did you think you were getting that part for free? We'll release that for separate purchase soon. Welcome to 2014.
It forces them to focus on better single player experience when they are not including multiplayer at all.

The truth is that American business can't support American companies being in America.
Sad, amusing, and true.

etc...you get my point...

Ah, good catch. The entry-level salary would actually be €9.88 / hour ($13.51 / hour). So you have a point.
Heh! Well, let's see... An US gallon of gas costs $8.29 in Finland (€1.6/liter). Finlandia Vodka costs $44.55/liter (€32.57).
Believe or not, it is not that much off. In Finland, the average salary of a McDonald's worker in 2013 was €12.57 / hour, which is $17.19 / hour.

I hope so.
I have not done any testing.
Nothing is obvious in open source. :D

True. If the machine is in the same office, those might be viable options too.
No? Then stop spamming slashdot with this "news". It's not news until there's working network transparency.
Well, it happens to have network transparency already, so I guess that's a green light to continue spamming with Wayland news.
Using remote desktop is the practical solution for his problem.
Wayland is nothing until there is good remote display support.
There is already remote desktop support in Wayland. It uses RDP and works for individual windows too.
Yes, but will anyone ever develop it into a usable product?
Umm...that would actually suggest that the GPU support is terrible, if it would be "insane" to use other chips than Nvidia.
Hahhaa! Yeah, right.
Linux GPU drivers are not that terrible.
Second, why is it available for old Sony and Microsoft consoles but not for Wii U, Macs or Linux?
The PS3 and XB360 are bigger and more lucrative platforms.

Suckah! Wayland is widely known in the Linux world and requires no further explanation at this point.
Maybe I'll love Wayland too? Has anyone here actually seriously tried this thing before bashing it?
Not many, probably. Currently it's very hard to set up and there's not much you can do with it.
