  1. Local paper not worth paying for, online or paper on Free News Unsustainable, Says Warren Buffett · · Score: 1

Who cares? My local paper is a left wing rag anyway. I'll just listen to the "free" local radio for local news and subscribe to content that has more quality.

  2. Balderdash! on High School Students Sue Federal Gov't Over Global Warming · · Score: 1

Consider the source and the location - the far left.... Balderdash indeed!

  3. Livescribe Echo Pen on Ask Slashdot: What Is the Best Note-Taking Device For Conferences? · · Score: 1

I also would suggest the Livescribe Echo pen. It provides, written, audio, and digital recording. It is small and unobtrusive. It is the best thing I have found short of a video camera.

  4. What about TRS M100? on Meet The Man Who Designed a Tablet Computer 15 Years Before the iPad · · Score: 1

For the time, a Tandy/Radio Shack Model 100 was a pretty capable tablet PC. I still have a couple that work.

  5. Teachers can rarely choose curriculum on Math Textbooks a Textbook Example of Bad Textbooks · · Score: 1

Teachers rarely get to provide input on the curriculum these days. In this atmosphere where teaching to the standardized high stakes state test is the norm, administrative clerks (principals and above) reach for any new scheme that they think will raise test scores. Most admin clerks have less teaching experience or curriculum knowledge than the teacher they lord over like demi-gods.

Another vote for Linode. I have been with them for years. Linode's service and suport are excellent.

  7. O'Bozo is a waste of time on President Obama To Appear On Mythbusters · · Score: 1

I'll skip this Mythbusters for sure. It is a repeat anyway and O'Bozo is a waste of time.

  8. Re:Medical... on Why Are Digital Hearing Aids So Expensive? · · Score: 1

I have poor hearing. Health insurance does not generally cover hearing aids. I have had several major plans over the years. None of them have ever covered hearing aids. I had to purchase a pair of inexpensive analog aids from Hearing Help Express. They work well if the environment doesn't have too much background noise or the sounds levels don't change from loud to soft or back too much. (No automatic level control). Unfortunately, I'm a school teacher so the above conditions are rarely met. :( Jeff

  9. NASA Needs Permission? on NASA Campaigns For Safer Launch Requirements · · Score: 5, Insightful

Why does NASA have to campaign for greater safety standards? Why can't they implement them without the "politicians" approval?

  10. Re:Moral of the story? on Qantas Blames Wireless For Aircraft Incidents · · Score: 1

My wife flew to St. Louis last weekend. They confiscated her "assault" toothpaste. The tube contained more than 4 ounces. :)
