    Even when I took Nuclear Physics in the early 70s we had a reliable analog computer...the slide rule. I had already spent a fortune ($335) on the then new HP-45 but my K&E deci-trig-log was still clipped to my belt as a backup. In those days, many professors did not allow HPs since they thought it gave an unfair advantage to the students that had one. Then TI got into the game and all bets were off.....

    Apple also provides excellent support even as a MacBook begins to age. Another reason that Windows on a Mac is a good option when necessary. OS X though is far superior to any version of Windows.

    What about Raspberry Pi. It has done an awful lot to expand educational opportunities in Europe and the rest of the World. Many teachers and children have been inspired to learn to "code" because of the RPi. It does take time for all of those 7 year olds to develop and enter the workforce though, how about 15 years or so including engineering school.

    I have no doubt that the 5% will survive and multiply. The 5% that made it through are the strongest and most adaptable. That is the way nature works. Duh! I thought the guy was a professor. I wonder how the mosquitos did? Another post mentioned that this stink bug was an invasive species. Too bad, so sad..... In DC, all they have to do is let the politicians out of their cages and bullet proof cars. That would provide enough hot air to warm things up anyway.
