  1. Biased author on Are You a Blue-Collar Or White-Collar Developer? · · Score: 1

It seems like the author has a biased opinion that learning to program in a vocational school implies a more comprehensive and focused curriculum on computer science. I disagree. I went to a 4 year uni, and although I did take many classes in physics and math, and not *just* programming, I also had four years of rigorous computer science curriculum; so much rigor, that I'm confident I learned more exhaustive CS and programming skills than others I've worked with from vocational schools have learned. But nonetheless, I agree with the author, that the skills should speak for themselves

  2. Germans.. on Some People Just Never Learn · · Score: 0, Flamebait

didn't the Germans make a strong effort for solid ground in eugenics in say... WW2 ?

  3. Well socrates said.. on Humans Hardwired to Believe in Supernatural Deity? · · Score: 1

"In order that the mind should see light instead of darkness, so the entire soul must be turned away from this changing world, until its eye can learn to contemplate reality and that supreme splendor which we have called the good. Hence there may well be an art whose aim would be to effect this very thing." chew on that and then tell me what effect a being's choices, thoughts, and actions have on their evolutionary development.

  4. evolution on Humans Hardwired to Believe in Supernatural Deity? · · Score: 1

our physical composition and makeup are obviously determined by actions. i.e evolution. the desire and need of a bird to seek higher ground to avoid predators after X amount of generations will give them the capacity to eventually fly. All through focused willpower as a result of interacting with our environment? Far out.. when it comes to the topic of how we are physiologically composed for matters of spirit, theists of ancient religions like hinduism have been studying this law of cause of and effect for spirit, down to the subtely of not just merely every action, but through the nature of thoughts themselves. This is of course why all religions are based on ethical principle, so you might find yourself going back to, 'are ethics absolute, what is truth'? sort of debating. but let me add this quote by socrates: "in order that the mind should see light instead of darkness, so the entire soul must be turned away from this changing world, until its eye can learn to contemplate reality and that supreme splendor which we have called the good. hence there may well be an art whose aim would be to effect this very thing" the ability to use your consciousness and put forth you entire spirit isn't allowed by some one gene, its basically the entire makeup of our being

  5. My FPS is fine on Vista Not Playing Nice With FPS Games · · Score: 1

Whatever, I run vista with only a gig of ram, my 64 bit chip, and a nvidia 7600 GT card and counter-strike source plays as well as it did in XP. It does crash occasionally, but thats because I only have a gig of ram.

  6. Re:Happiness is against human nature.. on The Science Of Happiness · · Score: 1

I disagree. Why must you be discontent in order to strive for betterment, or cultivation of oneself? It is the human ability to change perception (discriminate), and persevere the illusions which your ego has burried to your false idea of the self. Discrimination is a double edged sword. What you need, is hope, dedication and confidence. You must love yourself to find the true nature of the self, from which there is no substitution for happiness. I think it is your ignorance of the true nature of reality/yourself, attachment, and/or aversion, that keep you from satisfaction and happiness. Remember, resistance is futile. It's too close so we overlook it. It seems too good to be true so we can't believe it. It's too profound so we can't fathom it. It's not outside ourselves so we can't obtain it anew.

  7. Love on Report Claims Men More Intelligent Than Women · · Score: 1

I think its just the fact that women are usually more one with their intuitive emotions like love and are usually less egotistical. Thats where they think can compare in intelligence! Maybe its some sort of genetic evolution and they've just got a slow start, but hey I still love 'em.

  8. FPS on Will Next-Gen Consoles Kill Off PC Gaming? · · Score: 2, Insightful

Until they sell a mouse, no FPS on a console will be superior to that on the PC, the control is just more adaptable and precise w/ keyboard and mouse, its what i live for! muwuahhaha
