    That too. It this case greed may make them even more blind to their own stupidity, or they may already be completely blind to it without the greed.

    Might also have the opposite effect: "I love coding, but I would have to work with _these_ morons? No, better become an MD or a lawyer..."

    We are already seeing this effect, as all the moron coders have driven salaries down and made working conditions far worse. In fact, if you keep ideology out of it, this seems to be one factor that keeps the number of women in coding and in CS low.

  12. Simple: He may have seen data or derived data that indicates this. He may also have developed a general intuition about the criminality-level of the business practices at Facebook. That this level is "high" is pretty obvious though. Although they may now have added "treason", which is a special accomplishment.

If he had nothing to hide, he could just publish his tax records. That he does not is a huge red flag, but since his voters are essentially part of the "stupid" faction, they would not recognize a red flag if hit over the head with it.

    Actually, OpenJDK is using the Oracle API as well, AFAIK.

    Just shows how utterly demented powerful parts of the legal profession are in the US. No connection to reality anymore at all and apparently also incapable of listening to actual experts. Like some politicians (the orange one for example) I could think of.

    The API is an interface specification. It is "mathematics". As such it has neither copyright protection nor patent protection. This is akin to claiming that a "thing with a handle and you can cut other things with it" is a protected concept. It is not. Far too general and obvious.

    On the other hand, if Oracle wins this then Java is basically dead. That would be a good thing.

    Or he could have climbed a mountain. It is not like the curving of the earth is hard to see if you try. It is that all these morons are actively looking the other way.
