Windows VISTA Ultimate RC-1 (5600) with an Athlon XP3000, ASUS A7V600, Mushkin PC3200@512(X2), Seagate 40GB 7200 IDE, and nVidia FX5200EP (because there are NO drivers for ATI 9600/9800 cards)- QUAKE III Arena was almost unplayable, despite the fact it is the only prog currently loaded. It kicked ass on XP Pro Corp which was loaded with Gigabytes of progs and apps.
I'm thinking Vista sucks, and there is NO way in hell I'll pay retail for the final version (in Jan07, or whenever.....).
I'm going back to my hacked copy of XP Pro Corp...:(

agreed, i hang in romance/by location/nh2, a public room...on any given day, at leat 20 names of the 50 person limit are spam 'bots, or worse, script kiddies on Mom's hijacked Compaq trying out their silly scripts. It is to a level that decreases most possible enjoyment out of the room. And a private room is just the place to take someone you've just met, if you desire further conversation. Yes, instant messaging is available, but I dont trust their IM client (lousy security)- if they cant keep the rooms safe and clean, how can they keep their chat client safe...

"...and the trojan doesn't create the file until you do..." agreed. however, if you know the name of the executable that creates the trojan in the first place, this method allows you the ability to delete the .exe, should it have attached itself to an operating system file. simply delete the offending file, and replace with a clean one. i am attempting to switch to FireFox as well, the ol' Titanic-browser is a little to "leaky" for me. and i kind of like tabbed browsing...

Another way is to use a WinPE disc, or a BartPE disc. These discs allow a computer to run an OS from the CD-ROM instead of the HDD. You can read NTFS files (as well as FAT's and encrypted), and delete/modify reg entries in addition to DIR files. Of course, prevention is the key. I use JavaCools Spyware Blaster (doesnt get rid of spyware, stops it from ever being installed in the first place), SpyBot S&D, Google ToolBar (for pop-ups), as well as killing Flash (another fav way to deliver spam/virii/trojans), and hiking security to "paranoid" levels. Surfing is somewhat impeded, but I havent been infected by ANYTHING in over a year.

Friends? You ass, we're NATIVES!!!! You want to move here and make us "FRIENDS"? Just like Bush moving to Iraq to make "FRIENDS"!!! And you fit the mold because we're quite tolerant of everyone up 'til the point we are treated as second-class or second rate (such as the inability to join your little enclave, except as "FRIENDS"!). FRIENDS = supporters, I'm NOT a supporter, I'm a NATIVE! ***** "...And it's not that cold all over the state. Lancaster is way way north. ..." I invite you to come check us out. I'm sure you'd like us. ..." I don't like discriminatory groups, and your failure to recognize NH NATIVES as members is absolutely discriminatory. With a population of barely over a million, it wouldn't take too many of you FREE LOADERS to engulf our tiny state and make it what you want.
