Htc have launched an android phone with their new Sense UI
If you've ever used a Htc phone before, you'll recognize it as being very similar to their awesome TouchFlo 3D interface for windows mobile.
The G1 is too underpowered to be serious competition for the Iphone, but things are getting better.
Cannabis is a wonderful plant, it should by all means be legal, but should not be left uncontrolled.
Under 18's that smoke are at risk of developing mental illnesses, I've seen it in friends and relatives.
As far as I'm aware, this risk isn't present with tobacco or alcohol.
If the developed world is to legalize cannabis, we need a way to stop it falling into the hands of our children (ie selling it prescription only, or to licensed individuals only.)
I'm thinking if we do this, street dealers will still have a market in u18's and individuals unable to get a license or prescription, so the cartel problem won't disappear overnight.
In the UK, where tobacco is heavily taxed, a similar, albeit smaller scale phenomena already exists.
Mod parent up.
I was about to post this observation myself.
The HHTG series got less funny as it progressed, as Adams grew more frustrated with writing.
He hated writing with a passion, and often had to be locked in his office to meet deadlines. Since the fourth and fifth books of the trilogy were new material rather than expanded radio scripts, they suffer from this far more obviously - it took him eight years to write Mostly Harmless, with the other books all being released within two years of each-other.
Unfortunately he suffered a TEF at the gym before he could finish it; his final joke.
If you have genuine interest in his works you'd probably benefit from checking out the soon-to-be-released BBC remake of Last Chance To SeeWiki - A short documentary series following some of the worlds most endangered animals, Due to start September 6th on BBC2
The entire radio miniseries is available on the BBC website linked above, and is drenched in Adam's usual style.
Nukes are already outdated, as of about six years ago.
Why deal with fallout when you can just drop eight and a half tonnes of H6 on your enemy instead?
I fail to see why the targets of this move, the gangs of scum that hang around the outskirts of UK cities having their recruitment videos taken down is such a bad thing.
These videos show hooded/masked youths, bragging about their violent crimes, and showing off their hoards of stolen/black-market guns and knives.
Taking down the recruitment videos helps to stop the gangs growing, it's part of a wider tactic police here use to disrupt the social lives of the gangs, forcing them apart.
Of course, if you'd rather the scum of the British underclass were allowed to rob, stab shoot, and deal drugs freely, you're welcome to take them, and let them do so in your own country.
We're sick of it here, especially in Liverpool.
The new breed of UK ISPs using BT's last mile are activating exchanges in the exact same manner used by BT some years ago - by demand.
Don't get bitter because they've not got to you yet; even with limited staff they seem to be moving faster than BT ever did.
If you didn't read into that sentence I'll emphasise my point: They're expanding in the manner, and direction that gains the most profit.
Not because some fictitious socialist mandate pushes them to; not to alienate rural users.
Most of these ISP's are still small, and doing what they can with the capital available.
Example of one of the ISP'S jumping on LLU (local loop unbundling): Be24 - Home package: 'Be Unlimited'
Up to 24meg downstream
Up to 1.3 meg upstream
'Unlimited' usage.
In relation to the 'unlimited' usage, their Be Lite package charges £1/gb in 5gb chunks -up to- 90gb. Then they recommend switching to 'Be Unlimited'.
They basically expect near enough 100gb/month from you.
It's not even like they're the cheapest/best value (TalkTalk,Sky; anyone?)
So much for crappy, Slow, expensive UK Internet.
Our internet is improving fast, how about yours?
As a HSBC internet banking user, I can safely say you'd be locked out long before your ninth attempt, hell; four locked me out when I last forgot my IB code. Being locked out is something you can only fix by visiting your local branch and using your password to unlock the account again.
The number of attempts is not given, but the automatic lockout is at least covered at their security page
Sorry Cardiff University, no bank hax for you today.
https://www.bethere.co.uk/ - If you're lucky enough to live in one of their areas, i'd go for Be.
Their pay-per-gb package goes up to 90gb, so their unlimited is for those who will use more?
£24 connection fee
£24 a month

Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. has announced that it has opened a new development studio under its 2K label in Shanghai, China. The new studio, 2K Shanghai, is completing development of the Chinese-language version of Sid Meier's Civilization: IV for the PC expected to be available later this summer.
I'm hardly fluent in marketspeak, but I'd say downsized is more accurate.
It's all about squeezing every last penny out of each game - adding a new language pack then selling a game to the Chinese must be cheaper than porting it to another console, so Rockstar Vienna lose.
maybe this is just another way the company is using short-sightedness to eventually cut it's own wrists.... Rockstar might not get some of the advantages MS might offer them, but it sure seems a safer long-term bet than tying one of it's most popular games to only one system, particularly by a company that's notorious for abandoning markets after a couple years of losing money.advantages
Hold that thought. Take 2 closed the studio, not Rockstar.
Considering the hasty closure, I wouldn't assume Rockstar even got a word in.
Besides; since when did shareholders know the meaning of 'long-term' ?
Does this means that Jack Thompson eventually won? That can't be good...
Take2 opened another studio a few days ago, and Rockstar Vienna ported GTA to xbox, they didn't create it.
I don't think Jack won, I think Take 2's shareholders won, when they decided to drop Vienna for cheap labour in shanghai.
As posted by tobe in the comments section of the blog mentioned above.
Well, a couple of notes: Austrian labor law basically doesn't allow one to put people on the streets right away. We're getting paid for a while yet. From what I've seen and heard, the two founders of the studio are bending over backwards to make this process more humane than is absolutely required. We did receive information on possible jobs in other T2 studios, on recruiters, etc. It's not the most lavish process, but it's something.
I think the way the layoff was handled makes sense, within the context of a typical public company. You want to make the transition quick - it'll be a shock anyway, so why not make it as short as possible? Imagine if you'd known about it for weeks but couldn't have told anyone... terrible. You want to make sure people don't do anything stupid and you want to protect your assets, hence the security guards. It's assuming the worst of people, but at least you're safe.
On a higher level, you want to make sure the company is run efficiently, and you want to be seen running the company efficiently by shareholders. Capitalism at work - T2 opening a studio in Shanghai fits nicely somehow.
Naturally, down in the trenches it feels different, and it would've been nice to work for a company that handles this differently. But very few do.
The only criticism I can make is that this is a very drastic solution - if there was a problem, couldn't this have been foreseen earlier, and dealt with differently?
This guy adds a lot that the article, and blog miss out. It doesn't make the news any better, especially to the ex-staff of rockstar vienna, but concerning employment law, damn; am I glad to live in Europe.
A further comment claimed that in America, companies have the right to lay you off, and stop your pay -tomorrow-
Surely that isn't right?
I just love how/.ers seem intent on biting the hand that feeds; but, if you are investing time on cleaning your mozoogle searches, it's time wasted.
Unless you're masquerading your browser headers somehow, google will still see all.
Tinfoil hats, anyone?
All animal shelters have to put animals to sleep, or they'd go out of business
I'm sure DogsTrust (Formerly NCDL.) will be interested to hear that they're now a business instead of a charity, and consequentially out of business for daring to be ethical. Lets not turn this into a war of uninformed opinions. If you are going to claim something, make sure you can back it up. (First/. post for a log-time lurker) -Kerr

You're comparing apples and oranges anyway.
Smoking one or two packs of joints in a day is probably impossible. You'd be asleep before the second pack ever happened.
If you disagree with this statement, you just aren't smoking the right strain.

Hopefully they'll open it up for the genius's of the world to take a stab at coding in the cell environment
I'm no coder, but perhaps you meant something like this ?
