if they really wanted a Minecraft coding tutorial it should have been in Java
I know you probably think knowing Java is important to shape the mind of a programmer, but the truth is that in today's tech industry, learning Java is like learning RPG or Cobol 15 years ago. What matters today is solving business problems quickly, not creating majestic pieces of software engineering.
Don't get me wrong; the world will always need real coders using real languages. But that's not the problem those code bootcamps are trying to solve. They're just trying to take the people who would normally become Excel power users and give them the push to go a little bit further so they can participate in the mass production of apps and scripts.
On careers.microsoft.com, a search for "programming" jobs returns more than 500 pages of results. GIven the volume of spam I get from amazon, google and countless headhunters, many other companies also are hurting for tech workers. Even the shitload of visa workers they bring in every year don't move the needle on this.
Maybe the real problem here is not the tech industry, maybe you just have issues that make you a poor candidate for real work. Do you wash your hands and put on clean underwears before going to job interviews? Clipping those long yellowing nails and removing the cheetos crumbs and dried kfc gravy from your beard could also help.
According to History (and common sense), it's the opposite. You have a laptop to post on Slashdot, you have indoor plumbing in your mom's basement, and you have those piss-stained hello kitty panties that you stole from your sister's hamper to wipe your dick when you're done watching pornhub; none of those things existed back when the global headcount was in the low 8-digits.
The FBI wanted Apple to create a customized version of an OS which they didn't want to make.
Funny how Samsung has a bigger market share of the smartphone segment in the USA, and yet every time there's smartphone involved in a mass shooting it's an iPhone. I guess the FBI is aware of that.
Ms Prior had argued she was unable to continue working face-to-face with white people following a series of Facebook posts made after Mr Wood was asked to leave an Indigenous-only computer lab at QUT in 2013.
Yeah, worked so well. Ask the students that had to pay court cost and have their life through the meatgrinder for a few years. Just think if it were you.
Did you read the story? They sued her for those court costs and won.
Yes, DisplayPort supports multi-channel audio and many advanced audio features. DisplayPort to HDMI adapters also include the ability to support HDMI audio.
I've never heard of display port audio working without an HDMI adapter, which basically makes it less useful than HDMI.
Three ports on a single card means that it can power 12 monitors, meanwhile because it has only 1 HDMI (and no dvi) you're basically fucked if you want to have what is completely normal, which is 2 monitors using HDMI and feeding desktop speakers from a monitor audio jack.
The day they have audio on display ports they can put as many as they want, until then we need HDMI.
They'll probably make it wireless, wifiless and bluetoothless. It will only play the same built-in U2 song over and over, unless you buy the Pro edition which comes with a single Delete button.
Being late to the market is sort of an Apple thing. The iPod, iPhone, and iPad were all somewhat late to their respective markets, and subsequently dominated those markets.
The iPod is gone and the iPad is dead in the water. All that's left is the iPhone which is no longer dominating anything except in the mind of its dwindling user base. Once again, Apple managed to build something great, then drive it into the ground, all within a 10-year span. The Ford Escort lasted twice that long.
I don't know why you were voted down for that comment, but this is correct. It's the same reason Apple waited so long before releasing an OLED screen.
So you're saying that they waited 5 years to finally buy the lowest grade OLED available from the discontinued line of Samsung screens because they wanted to do it right? Do what right? Save money and make more profit?
maybe you just don't remember the Star Wars branded toothbrushes or bed covers. There was nothing tasteful about it.
TAKE THAT BACK. I had one of those bed covers as a kid and it was awesome. It was the Return of the Jedi one, with the flying bikes -- which are the coolest vehicles ever; fast, agile, with a built-in commlink jammer and a cool rugged paint job.
For the record, the card is not "modded", it only has a somewhat Star Wars inspired case. It's not a collector item except maybe for someone who collects lame things.
Also the card sucks. It has 3 display ports and 1 hdmi port. There's simply no reason for that, unless nvidia stumbled upon a couple containers of discount display port sockets on alibaba.
The problem is that I use the built-in scanner a lot, since most of the stuff I print is documents I get by email that I have to sign and return. I've looked at other solutions and none is cheaper than my piece of shit inkjet/scanner combo.
Why not just get a scan of your signature and apply it to documents then send back without all the faffing around printing and scanning. Plus it's way cheaper.
This is a good idea, and it will also spice up the paperwork boredom by injecting a whiff of forgery.
Already about 1/2 of web pages I can only get to work by using "view source" and clipping out links from the source
Whatever possible damage you think javascript can cause you is tiny compared to your current nightmarish internet experience. Maybe it's time to move on.

This is more about some sales people bribing ("lobbying") the right people.
In this case I don't think so. What this Munich thing is about is a whole IT reorganization to replace department services with a centralized model that failed miserably. Linux is just the patsy that they use to sweep the reorg fiasco under the rug.
See:
A report (PDF) by Microsoft partner Accenture commissioned by Munich found the most important issues were organisational.
If your "normal admins" could do email for $5/month per user, including hardware, software, bandwidth, high availability, 24x7 helpdesk and whatnot, Microsoft wouldn't make $20 billions per year with their cloud offering

more people = stupider people.

Arrogant windbag misses the joke, as usual.
Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get the next one.

My favorite part:

Looks like that lady who tried to sue them lost and went bankrupt over this.

She really tried to become famous and make a buck on this, but she lost everything. Looks to me like the system worked.

lucm, lucm, we did that...ten years ago:
Does DisplayPort also support audio?

I thought display port was still a thing specifically because it supports splitters.

Thank you for the link. That video is... unique.

But they're making it up on volume.
This should work. After all, something similar was done a few years ago, it was called "CDO" and it has been a huge success, for a while.
Nobody seriously praises Rust.
Linus Torvalds would turn over in his grave, if he was dead.
What most people don't realize is webassembly is just a way to obfuscate the web in the same manner people already obfuscate compiler binaries.
Furthermore it will lead to integrated 'all in one' scripts that cannot be easily disentangled
webassembly, systemd, this thing has many names.
