Well, Science may not always be Wright, but the Wright brothers were Science, I know that much. I don't think they could have invented the airplane with religion.
Employees are most productive when they are happy and preventing them from using the internet doesn't seem like it would help.
However, if my work provided free games, women, and drinks for relaxing during the time while my computer compiles, I would be more than happy to forgo surfing the Net entirely.
The work Yahoo does may not be as interesting as Google, but perhaps you can live more interesting lives?
Many people at google do nothing but work all the time, which makes for a good company, but not for a satisfying lifestyle - at least, not one I would be satisfied with. Perhaps Yahoo is better in this way?
I believe this. I applied to Google a little while ago, and despite the fact that the reputation is that it is more of an academic environment than a corporate one, I found it more corporate than most jobs I've applied to, and I felt like they were really looking for the highest base level applicants (i.e. workhorses who are generally pretty good at all things) rather than people who are very strong in one area, and weaker in others. I would think they would want more of the latter, so they could work with more insight from different fields, but it seems like they're past that building stage and are now filling out a corporation.
True, but you wouldn't expect 70 years in Prison for stealing a car. The billions of dollars of damage they're reporting is most certainly unjustified, especially if he has not leaked any secrets.
I find it extremely hypocritical that our government is simultaneously claiming that finding out about what they are doing is a high crime and at the same time reducing privacy rights for citizens.
You mean Karl Rove? He's not a bozo - actually quite intelligent, even if his goals are questionable.
That was the first impression I got from the article too. Maybe the term "MacDonalds joints" would have worked better...
