    Of course they did, just not to the Internet. This is certainly not the first data connection to the ISS, probably just lower on the priorities.

    You're more correct than your score suggests. If they're creating laws that say "Privacy mode is not legal FOR SPAM!" Then in less than a year, the "FOR SPAM" qualifier will be removed, because it's seen only as a precedent for some other case where someone claims their privacy matters. "No it doesn't. Not if you were doing something unpopular, like breaking laws. Just look at this CAN-SPAM case."

    This is very true. I can only imagine next year it could include P2P users and eventually anyone doing something abnormal like running tor (because using tor or encrypting your disks is obviously suspicious activity). It should not be illegal for spammers to use the privacy services, courts should subpoena the true identities from the privacy services and be done with it.

    Unfortunately it seems that most every test was at novice level, or at least "rusty". He mentioned getting a little practice but that is not the same as using the device and its input method regularily. He was most used to the iPhone for mobile input, it is no surprise it came in second to the full-sized keyboard.

    I would like to see him repeat the test after using a device exclusively, or get a real regular user of one to do it for him.

    The Apollo 1 fire seems to disagree with this idea that NASA was crazy-careful. This was not wholly NASA-caused issue, but they definitely contributed to the causes of the fire and deaths.

    Watch From the Earth to the Moon, or at least the "Spider" episode (about the design and production of the Apollo Lunar Module). You will understand the process more closely, and lose some negativity about those companies taking over.

    Not necessarily. While still in the research phase, Fourth Generation reactors look very promising, waste that remains dangerous for decades rather than thousands of years and the ability to use waste from Gen III reactors as fuel.

    Even current breeder reactors can use some waste as fuel.

    They are planning on taxing people.

    Congress uses right for the well being to step in many areas in which they realistically should have no authority. Is there FUD? Of course. Is all of it unfounded? No.

    Al Gore is not just like anybody or everybody else.

    All politicians have some level of elitism. Most have never been white collar and certainly not blue collar. Is it any surprise people dislike politicians and feel they do not relate to them, or would vote for someone who also had a silver spoon, but at least seems more real?

    It is unlikely they did. The majority do not carry and the shooting did not take place in a public area, where military police are more likely to be armed and on duty. The military doesn't usually guard against its own people.

    AT&T would not sue over an Apple trademark.

    Of course, if you read the summary it also states the reason as "ads are misleading and amount to deceptive trade practices" - I don't know how you relate that to the Apple phrase.

    HAM to phone has been available for a long time. There are many systems where dialing the correct digits will get you a dial tone to then dial a number. Theoretically this same system could be hooked up to an Asterisk server.

    Of course there is also no privacy whatsoever (nor anything to prevent somebody else from intruding into your call). It is a great way of asking your wife what's for dinner, I would not consider using it to call the electric company and tell anyone with a scanner my account number, credit card number, social security number etc.
