What exactly is a usb drive? Isn't that something in a car? Floppy drives are VERY useful when working with MS-DOS and old PC's and they look so sexy in a shirt pocket.
I think the terrorists are feeling quite annoyed and embarrased right now, the British people and their nature are preventing them from doing their job, they have failed spectacularly in causing nation-wide terror. I would quite happily and very proudly ride on a tube train or a bus and I have no fear of flying or taking any other form of transport. These terrorist losers obviously forgot how resiliant the British are and how we deal with issues like this. We are concerned, but not shaken and definately not stirred, this is merely a scratch in the arm of Britain.
Just out of interest, why has this been put into Hardware when it's definately a YRO. Anyway, this scheme could be implemented worldwide and quite rightly should be. My cousin who is 8 years old has an e-mail account with supposed Spam "Protection" but yet she recieves pornographic Spam regularly. Her parents changed service but the problems are begining to occur again.
Let's just consider that if Slashdot was around before the network, a Slashdotter would have invented the network and then written this book on it. And yes, your computer may be turned into a giant penguin and/or coffee machine via a "Slashdotbodge" if you let them install a network, you've gotta love these guys' efforts. And as for speelling, the average Slashdotter has too much on their mind to consider spelling and grammar.
Can the EU demand that Windows XP (Standard) is not sold or distributed on new PC's? This would make the plans seem much more logical and would make them easier to enforce, that would cause real (although minor) damage to Microsoft. OR, the EU can demand that if Windows Media Player is included by default, RealPlayer, Quicktime, etc. must also be included for greater user choice & convenience. Obviously the latter could not be done by Microsoft but there is nothing stopping the OEM's doing this.
