  1. Can hardly wait... on LiveJournal Founder Launches OpenID System · · Score: 3, Insightful

I can hardly wait if/when systems like this become popular, to be forced to register an id like Martian5576567567 due to every other numerical possibillity haven been already taken, due to alot of sites using such a system, and people forgetting about passwords or old accounts and re-registering multiple times.

Also isnt there an issue if somone discovers your password, they can "pretend" to be you on any site including sites with sensitive information such as paypal and the like...

  3. Open Source Contractors? on eBay Starts Open-Source Community · · Score: 1

Hmm I see this trend more and more within the open source comunity, A company "Opens its Source" to the world, but it only opens small pecies of what it does, and/or puts it under restrictive licences that essentially say you have no ownership of any modified code ergo the orginating company owns copyright to all versions of the code that are made.

So what exactly IS the incentive to work on it, if all you are doing is ensuring that the company gets a better product, and that you have no legal right to implement the code without permission?

The correct decision would have been to do what the Soviets did and continue to incrementally improve expendable launchers. Soviet space policy was extremly sucessful, after all look at the sucess of their mir space station and their planetary probes/moon landings... oh wait

Dont you know? Libraies have always been a source of that damned "unpatriotic knowledge". Why should anything exist that opposes the status quo?, Its like bush said, if you are not with us, you are a terrorist...
