  2. My (non)-belief on Humans Hardwired to Believe in Supernatural Deity? · · Score: 0

NOTICE: The following is highly subjective.

Theism exists because people don't want to get real: we are not actually important in this Universe. If the Earth were to blow up tomorrow, we would be the only ones to care. The fact that we exist is about as much an accident as not. We don't have any kind of "mission"...

There's no "afterlife". Why would we need it if we can already live "heaven" or "hell" right here, right now on Earth? People picture "heaven" as "a place like here, except better ". To me, that sounds like an excuse for not making the best of the only life we'll ever have.

Such is my (non)-belief. I think that's as simple as it gets. No need for the truckloads of various nonsense dogma that have been bashed into everyone for millenia.

PS: ... Would I happen to be off-topic?

Here's a really interesting project. Though it's not the kind of OS we'll have within say, the next hundred years, it's interesting to see how OSes could be so much more:

  9. Fight it bottom-up. on FTC Fines Zango $3 Million · · Score: 1

What you have to do is applying recursive fines. Those guys enjoy using lots of "sub-contractors" to "share responsibility" for the inherently evil actions. Instead of applying a fine of 3 millions on the 1st guy in the chain, they should apply similar fines to all the nodes in the tree. So if there are 16 contractors in all, 3 millions each. This would effectively fight the problem bottom-up. Since the small contractors make less money individually than the root company, they would suffer immediate bankrupt. The business chain won't run anymore if there's just the "root", or "front" company that can survive the fines. What usually happens (as in this case I think?), the root company makes MUCH more $ than they lose in fines so they laugh all the way to the bank.

  12. Re:Apple Provides SOME Legacy Support on Why Windows is Slow · · Score: 1

Early optimization is the root of all evil. Hence, it could be argued that an OS that does not get faster (or gets slower) with upgrades is inherently... evil. If you can't optimize anymore, it probably means you already did.
