I'm very surprised you weren't able to fill two entry level positions. I have a decent number of friends who have just graduated from reputable universities with decent grades that are having a hard time finding employment anywhere. The job that i'm at right now is good experience but the pay is lower than i hoped it would be. So although things may be looking up for the people up top with years of experience, for those of us who don't have such experience things aren't going too well.

I know what you're saying, but it's not enough to be able to pick up a language in a few days anymore. Most of the programming languages that i know i have taught myself after learning the principals at my university. However when i went on job interviews and tell them that in hopes that they will see a self-motivated, genuinely-interested-in-the-material guy, they only saw somebody who didn't have real world experience adn therefore i wasn't considered. It is important to know those concepts because otherwise you'd be totally crippled as a programmer or CS person in general, but nobody wants to hire a programmer who hasn't proven themselves in the "real world" yet

The last part is very true. I'm a recent college grad (entered college in 2000, graduated in 2004) and was searching for some sort of job that would let me use my degree and found that some businesses were looking for somebody with at least 3-5 years experience, but most were looking for 5-10 years. I know when it comes to experience in the workplace that it's the chicken and the egg problem but it seems that many of the entry level computer science-esque jobs have been outsourced which leaves the people graduating without a chance to gain experience. I lucked out and snagged a developer position but many of my friends who graduated with CS degrees are doing something totally unrelated to CS.

actually i never mentioned the boston tea party but since you brought it up lets talk about it. the americans were more likely to buy tea that was smuggled in because a) it was cheaper (no taxes) b) americans were profitting from it. when the british dropped the tax to encourage more sales, the americans had none of it and turned the ships away since they were already doing their own thing and directly profitting from it as opposed to a british company. this pissed the british off obviously and you know the rest. as for the draft remember when we got rid of it? why was that? because up until that point many of the wars were supported by the majority of americans. during the vietnam war, which was obviously not overwhelmingly supported, people bitched about the draft becuase they didn't want to fight a war they didn't believe in, along with other reasons. there was enough support behind it to get rid of the draft in 1973. Anyway both of our arguments are flawed since we're both taking history and omitting parts to suit politics

most of the people willing to sign up already have. this is the last step before going to a draft because people don't want to die, especially for a war the many people don't support.

we became free in the first place because we were being oppressed by the british: paying taxes but not having a say about anything (no taxation without representation), having their privacy infringed (the quartering act), and were drafted (impressment)

where in the article does it say that it was americans information that was sold? it'd be safer to say that it was british info that was sold since the register is based in the UK although it could've been information from many nations. also just because a person doesn't speak english and doesn't care about customer service doesn't mean they're a thief

While it's true that this doesn't seem to be much of an increase in speed especially compared to moving from the nvidia 5xxx FX series to the 6xxx series of videocards, the 7800 gtx does make it faster than ATI's current fastest card. This makes it so when a regular (non-nerd) person who plays the occasional computer game asks his/her computer nerd friend "hey, who makes the fastest video cards right now" the response will be Nvidia. That means that the non-nerd person will be more likely to buy the Nvidia card based on the "recommendation" from their computer nerd friend. So nvidia just needs to make this product available even though few people will buy it to make it worth it.
