When I was a kid, if I'd done anything like that my dad would have given me a good hiding, these 'parents' (and I use the word loosly) hire a lawyer to get their kid out of trouble. WTF?
I say take the kid and his parents out behind the woodshed and give them a lesson in manners they'll never forget.
This is the most brain-damaged law I've ever heard of. It's like making it a crime for car manufacturers to supply a car "likely to be driven while drunk".
Most whites have a gene that gives partial resistance to Bubonic Plague, as those Europeans who didn't have it 600 years ago don't have living descendants now.
Will the next big evolutionary change be (partial?) resistance to Bird-flu or Ebola ?
There was a case a few years ago here in Australia, where a guy accidentally followed a link to a child porn site, was disgusted at what he saw, and reported it to the police. The police took his report as a 'confession' to the crime of downloading child porn.
Never heard the result of the court case, but I'd like to think the court had a bit more sense than the police.
It's interesting to note that Stuffit produces worthwhile compression of JPG images, something long thought to be impossible. I'd heard the makers of Stuffit were claiming this, but I was sceptical, it's good to see independant confirmation.
I wonder if this will have any impact on the no smoking bans we have seen in recent years?
Most of the 'added safety' is in the filter. Much of the passive smoke comes straight from the cigarette tip without passing through the filter, so there's little change there.
The kid learned a valuable lesson in life: that actions have consequences. (something his parents clearly don't understand)
He got that lesson cheaply, the prisons are full of people who had to pay a higher price.

I mean, really, how boring are these stories?
Ok, so Microsoft uses Linux in some places, and some Microsoft employees have iPods, so what?
Next thing you know, they'll be sending reporters down to the local Ford plant to find out how many GM cars there are in the parking lot.
We live in a diverse universe guys, get used to it.
...shouldn't be interested in Jessica Alba's bikini?
I must have missed the memo.
... apparently they've found a way of using phone lines to carry voice calls...
Or Ubuntu if you prefer.
I can't imagine ever going back to a distro where you need to wait for the next distro release to get bug fixes, I just "apt-get update" once a week.

These figures don't count George Bush's "we don't need no steenkin' paperwork" illegal wiretaps.
Just go into your firewall settings, and set up a very large 'DMZ' ;)
Does this mean it actually supplies enough power to run 9 regular chips?
Can I buy a thousand of these new chips and use them to power my electric car?
Typical Amiga fanatic.
... I'll be a convert.
Until then, I'll stick with the dead-tree version, they're much more convenient.

Could someone please find a link for this?
:(
Be careful what you Google for, Big Brother is watching.

1. The idiot who logged on to his former employers system and took a little childish revenge.
2. The idiot who didn't disable the account of a security chief who's just been fired.
Remind me never to do business with a company who are that lax with security.
I'd say gnumeric.
And what's so obvious about 'Acess' compared to, say, mySQL ?
Then there's 'Powerpoint', wtf does that have to do with making presentations?
Granted, many of the unix app names are no better, but I don't see that they're any worse.

They systemised the Chinese -> European spelling system some years ago.
Does freedom go down the toilet the other way around in the Northern Hemisphere?

Sadly, this story is no surprise, it's also happening here in oz. http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200507/s1422

... you have to use Aluminium foil, you insensitive clods.

Yes, there's disagreement in science on fine details of evolution.
There's even greater disagreement in science over the so-called 'Theory of Gravity'.
It's time we started teaching 'Intelligent Falling' (http://www.theonion.com/content/node/39512) in science classes.
