the main audio mix is to be protected by the same software that already protects the content on normal DVDs.
Oh good, so I will be able to rip the tracks then. Assuming of course I can find time to log off newsgroups, the Pirate Bay, Oink!, Frost/Limewire, etc.
One day I couldn't get my scratched Windows install CD to work. Grabbed a white candle, rubbed it on the disc, then buffed it out with a cloth. You could still see the big scratches, but the disc worked fine after that.
As well as one could ever expect a windows cd to ever work, I'd imangine
Bubble (or XP's "Fisher-Price" inspired look) I guess works for some. I was actually referring the overall look of an OS (and how east it is to change it). I love how easy it is in gnome to change the theme. I had to hack windows to be able to do the same (at least beyond the simple choices built into xp).
Agreed, I find it useful for things like trivia (particularily geek-centric trivia), but beyond that, it's a pissing match, much like many other "user driven, user controlled, webmocratic" technologies/innovations.
One great example, and I only bring it up because it's such a great analogy to wikipedia, is digg. The commentary, and now even the stories that "get promoted" are utter garbage. A free-for-all on a scale like digg or wikipedia just doesn't work.
I don't know about you, but it's nice to have a system that isn't ugly. Of course, the first thing I did when I installed ubuntu was change the theme and get rid of the brown. Seriously, who thought that was a good idea? Of course now, it's sort of their claim to fame, and they can't change it now, but I wonder how many "regular" users are put off by unbuntu altogether, right off the bat?
I too was in a similar situation. I had played around with Linux for a while, but never really made a full transition from Windows (as my primary OS at home), even with distros like Mandrake/Mandriva. I just didn't want to invest a mess of time just to get up and running and do a few simple tasks. Once Ubuntu came along, I tried it out, I was hooked! Now my windows partition just sits around like that maytag guy.
actually I work in a small office, and I mentioned it to our VP (said we should get a card or something), and he asked "what's a 'sysadmin?'" I said "what so and so does," to which his response was "oh, well I guess everyone has a day now."
Kind of sad, considering the amount of work it takes to keep us up and running.
under my tin foil hat.
How dare you insult the intelligence of a room full of cocker spaniels, you insensitive clod!

I voted for Kang
I was going to make a smartass comment about the thing having a hand-crank but according to wikipedia, but I guess it's no longer the case.
In Soviet Russia... oh nevermind. ;)
Ask your kids
I'd be more surprised if they didn't already have one.
The co-worker in charge of getting the card said she couldn't find one for sysadmin day.
Was it Solitare, or Hearts perhaps?
Whoops, I was using CPUs to reheat my coffee.
So instead of purring like a tiger, it purrs like a penguin?

Does it run Linux?
For a second I thought I wouldn't get to be the first to welcome our new internet overlords.
Or are people finally saying enough? This story, plus, this recent one gives me personally, some hope that the shenanigans are coming to a close.
So if there's a dupe, do you donate to the EFF twice?
The Judge ganked his ass with a HS! About time someone pwned him. What a lamer, Thompson, T4UTD.
