And we are already seeing that spike as the spread of HIV has been greatly diminished with the use of HAART. Already Syphilis and Gonnorhea are spiking in incidence, and more worrisome, they are resistant to the drugs that we have used to treat them. Multidrug resistance is now a real problem with the older STDs!

That might be true for naturally occurring quakes, but the quakes that we are seeing in OK and surrounding States are being caused by increased stress along these faults by the pressure of waste water being injected into the ground and moving the faults. The ground is settling and creating new stress points, which is leading to these larger quakes. What remains to be seen is what will happen as we continue to create stress in the system. Personally, I wouldn't buy any land downstream...

Actually, one question that remains is was it the plague at all. There is still debate about some of the outbreaks across Europe. Were they in fact Plague, or influenza epidemics.

Once again, people who don't get their fact straight are confusing the issue. The Plague (Yersenia Pestis) is spread by fleas on rats. This is a well known and scientific fact. However, it can also be spread by airbourne particle if the infection moves from the lymph nodes (bubos or swollen lumps in the arm pits and groin is where the name bubonic plague comes from) to the lungs. Pneumonic Plague (Yersenia Pestis in the lung) is extremely contagious and universally fatal. The last I looked, there are no known survivors, even with today's medical care and treatment with antibiotics. So it is no wonder that in the town that once a person developed pneumonia from the plague, it spread extremely quickly and they all died. The initial infection was brought in by rats, but it may then have spread person to person as you would see if you RTFA.

I beg to differ. I give out medical advice all day, things that are PROVEN to improve your life, decrease your risk of death, and people blissfully ignore it all the time. Stop smoking, get more exercise, watch your diet are just a few of the most popularly ignored pieces of advice. So if people can ignore advice designed to save their lives, why are we surprized that they ignore advice to save their computers?

The most likely would be hyperthyroid, though that really doesn't cause one to 'lose protein'. Something that makes you lose protein would be more along the lines of a renal disease. Of course, those "sophisticated tests" are just so cool, lets all run out and get some. (and run up health costs even more when a decent physician should be able to make a diagnosis with a good physical exam, a good history and some simple blood tests)
