Children should have access to all information.
Children need to be educated to act in a responsible way with that information though, which is something those in favour of censorship usually prefer not to think about. They are the ones who usually don't have time to talk with their children.
Teach your children to handle the information instead of hiding it from them, they certainly will have access to that kind of information when they become adults.
Moving the combustion of the oil to the powerplants makes it much easier and cheaper to apply new future pollution reducing technologies.
Right now everyone has to buy a new car if something reducing pollution appears on the market. Applying the technology to a smaller number of oil powerplants would be much cheaper.
These powerplants would probably be able to use the fuel more effeciently also.
The major problem people have with service packs is that they are huge.
A service pack is likely to introduce half the number of bugs it fixes, if you are unlucky one of the new bugs will affect you.
In the linux world we have kernel releases more often. You can upgrade if you want to, if you are satisfied with the older kernel but need a bug fixed you can usually patch just that bug.
You usually won't get much help from Microsoft unless you are running the latest service pack. If you don't they will tell you to install it.
There is another rather huge difference also, this is a kernel release. A Windows Service Pack can affect anything on the system while a kernel upgrade usually only affects the kernel.
There are many 3D engines in the world created by a bunch of hackers who eventually start a company which is then bought by a larger company and which then releases the game. So I don't think you can say that a large organization is needed to create a good game, but it certainly helps.
The kind of people who create games probably don't have anything against open source. It is probably just that they can't afford to release their source until after the game has been released.
The question is, do you think artists and designers are less likely to enjoy giving their work away? I doubt it. They probably just don't see how it could be profitable for them. It's hard for them to take someone elses graphics and then improve on that, the way a coder can take someone elses code and improve it to suit his own needs.
The risk is just to large that someone would take it and release a game based on your engine that has a larger success.
And this is slashdot. It is not a place where editors write long articles (except on rare occasions). They just point you to the real piece of information, ignore the comments if you don't like it. I don't think any of the editers ever pretended to be unbiased.

Thank god that the judge did not buy the standard comp-sec firm talk that a scan is the same thing as a hack attempt.
Over here (Sweden) there have been lots of whining lately from the security firms suggesting that all broadband users should buy their firewall to avoid the hundreds of hack attempts every day.
Now how a badly configured firewall would help I do not know.
To me it seems that security firms have some of the worst security of all internet sites.

2.Accessing our system
There are many roads into a server; some include Telnet, remote access by way of an application or web access. By its very nature, a server must allow access or the information and materials contained thereon would not be available to users and to the general Internet-public. The desired balance is restricting certain kinds of access, whilst allowing others. Sometimes the balance is wrong. In this case, it would appear that our system was breached and that it became possible for someone to perform the functions needed to receive the www.nike.com referral and pass it onto the server hosting www.s11.org. N.B. Since this incident, we have changed every administrator password and username. We have double-checked our permissions and security features and restricted Telnet access to our router and DNS servers. In short, we have taken the steps necessary to ensure that this kind of thing does not happen again.
So I think Nike should sue him for allowing hackers to use his system to takeover their website. Changing passwords is not the right thing to do when you are cracked either so he was probably assisting the crackers from the beginning.
So now we will be forced to buy RDRAM even though noone wants it. The licensing fees for SDRAM will probably be huge thus forcing us to buy the "cheaper" RDRAM. This will suck for everyone except Intel and Rambus.

In a revolutionary move Judge Jacksson today judged that Microsfot should be divided into 2 parts. MS Legal and MS Software. Where MS Software would be completely owned by Judge Jacksson himself. This supposedly makes him the richest man in the world.
When asked about MS Legal Mr Jacksson was quoted as saying 'I don't want to have anything to do with those fools'.

Well, I did a whois and noticed that the coke.ch domains is owned by someone living in the US. Isn't that pretty odd ? Coca-Coal company probably sell coke in.ch and then they should have the domain. The domain has not really been registered that long either. So this guy is probably a squatter trying to turn people against Coca Cola Company.

They have proved that they can do, even said so. I wonder how long it will take until they try to get away with it again. I fear that the temptation of huge piles of money can make people forget promises fast.

Either they decided to show how well the filter worked on that website or we slashdotted it.

Idea for the next game against the campus police:
Let the cops win.
The ipv4 and ipv6 addresses have nothing to do with eachother. It is just a little DNS trick.
ipv4 uses A records to specify the ip address, ipv6 uses AAAA records (for now atleast). So a host can have both an ipv4 and an ipv6 address.

Please,
The largest cost of spam happens when mail is queued for users on mail servers and the time it takes for the user to read/delete the mail.
ORBS tries to mail themselves through your mail server. If you don't want people to use your mail SERVICE then don't let them relay through it.
But perhaps you are one of those who think it should be illegal to access a web server except by following a link from an authorized site.
One INCIDENTS post suggests that there is a exploit in the wild.
So upgrade.

You must have been to busy trolling to get a clue.
I really doubt that thing would work on mars.
I think that there is way to much external hydraulics, suspension etc. You would have dust all over it..
Why so small wheels ?
Mars is much lower G than earth, those wheels would get stuck in the dust easily.
I'm re-reading Kim Stanley Robinsons Red/Blue/Green Mars series now and I really think he has some good ideas on how to do it.
The ;s are actually there to make it work even if you do not have a correct terminal.
