Hmm.
How about:
1) portable / laptop with projector built in (would need innovation 2)
2) portable / laptop with builtin but detachable wireless kb / trackball (or mouse)
3) portable with satelite broadband:)
4) portable dynamic paper large display
5) which is touch sensitive.....
6) laptop / portable with wearable display
7) Light weight client with telephony integration, gps and video camera build in.
Ofcourse, this is all hardware. Software still has a huge gulf to bridge.
Has anyone seen any actual announcements from Sun ? This is all re-reports of a minor site, nothing on sun.com, just a lot of reporting upwards.
And the pictures are obviously not sun kit ?
A media experiment, perhaps, in the style of negativland - no real news, just the news reporting itself...
Assuming the beasty retains state, I can have consistent look and feel to the menus and options in my collection. I can set what I sound system I have, what languages I speak, etc.
And also, I can export my preferences and viewing habits, so I know when I last watched something, which special features I have used, etc.
And for the doting (control freak) parent, last time the porno collection was played:)
For the recorder, lots of neat options abound (in NZ, we do not have tivo).
And finally, WIZZY screensavers !!!:)
If it is to play half life, no ...
If it is access to your mp3's, you might as well have a wireless media player - otherwise you have no ability to change the selection with the device.
Both the wireless media player and this beast require your pc running, one has a useful interface.
The best way to fight this is to tell everyone.
The uproar over time should make the point to the studios.
