    For starters, we can stop calling versions "flavors" when the word "version" will do just fine. "Flavors" are for suckers. Who wants to lick an OS anyway? Especially one called "Warty Warthog"?

    None of which is as useful as "never for any site". Worthless annoying popups killed forever, with one click, no need to dig down into multiple menu layers to get rid of this problem.

    Great. Instead of having a computer that is obsolete when receive it, you can now pre-obsolesce your machine so you can be assured that it is obsolete and that you paid too much for it lnog before it ever arrives.

    I'm hoping they fix it. However, as per a typical "beta", there was no place to report problems other than the usual "drop comment into a black hole" Microsoft feedback area.

    Yes, it turned off my Visual Studio. After I installed IE7 and tried to run Visual Studio (I admit, an older version), I got a DLL error. I googled the error, and confirmed the incompability. I simply uninstalled IE 7 (could not stand it due to the messed-up control area and menu anyway) and VS worked again. Luckily.

    You are right. I didn't dig deep in obscure menus to kill this annoyance that (1) should not be the in the first place and (2) should have a turn off option right on the pop-up. I know, it's an old glitch. Netscape has had it going WAYYY.... back.

    I keep going back to the "Bad" one after using Firefox. Reasons including pages that don't display right in Firefox and that nasty "do you want to remember this password?" or whatever pop-up that LACKS a basic "no, and never ever ask me again for ANY site!!!!" option right on the popup. Better yet, it shouldn't ask this in the first place.

    Don't want it. They force tabbed browsing on you whether you want it or not (there's a big hole in the screen if you turn it off), and the locations of other things are moved to less-intuitive locations. Worst of all, installing it turns off "Visual Studio".

    What a novel concept: the idea that trades should involve the actual value of something. Sort of blows to bits the idea of minimum wage, living wage, etc.

    But for me, that is what I want. When I search the Internet for something, I want a search engine to return all pages that contain what I am looking for. Period. (I even want the pages with robots.txt: if you don't want it indexed DON'T PUT IT ON THE WEB!, but I know that is too much to ask for).

    I dumped Altavista once Google had indexed more sites than it. I actually preferred Altavista's search results because they are more accurate, but Google having more sites (and caching!) more than made up for the problem of Google searches being sprinkled with irrelevant, unwanted, results. I don't even mind that Google indexes blogs, etc: when I search the Internet for something, I want a search engine to return all pages that contain what I am looking for. Period.

    Is it easier to fire the bad guys there because you are less likely to have a crooked lawyer come up out of the ooze and file a frivolous "wrongful termination" lawsuit? I know that is a problem in the US.

    "Not every Indian is necessarily corrupt. However, even an handful can ruin the reputation of the entire bunch. The Indian Govt. has to crack down really hard on the people caught selling the data."

    Substitute "American" for "Indian" in that sentence. Then start going down the line with other countries. P.S. I am an American too.

    I like Altavista's actual search mechanism better (it is more precise, and makes sure that the returned pages contain the information I look for without having to place Google's annoying required) "inanchor" tag. However, sites like Altavista and others don't have anywhere near as many pages as Google. Also, the UI/interface/look on all of the other sites really sucks compared to Google.

    I loved the image search on A9 when it first came out. Then all of a sudden it was gone, and it is still gone. I stopped going there.

    The only time I use them is if I accidentally click on these "outside" search buttons instead of the nearby buttons to search inside IMDB or Amazon. Other sites have these useless outside searches, including Myspace.

    And they'll advertise music players for $29.99, but when you get there you find out that it's really $159.99 with a $130 rebate, which you never receive after you mail in the rebate form (there is fine print that basically says they aren't obligated to pay you after all).
