Not only are they not bothered whether its a monopoly or not. But the average American has no clue why Microsoft has been a Monopoly. Only people who have been involved in the computer industry for a number of years fully appreciate the fact.

hmmmmmmm, I hadn't thought about that issue. That really is going to have to be a seriously considered issue before use of these products become to widespread.

One major advantage of wireless that I see is in Networking for the Home. It's a real pain to try to wire an older home for networking and try to make it look decent, as well as expensive in its own right. A wireless solution could hit it big in the burgeoning home networking market.

I never thought it would take until I was 30 years old for someone to actually make a decent use for a robot. I have to admit the time has finally arrived though. Maybe in another 30 years we'll actually make it to Mars.

Hopefully next year we'll see a commercial from a Linux Conglomerate consisting of say Redhat, VA Linux and others, maybe even IBM, Dell , And Compaq. Then my friends would finally quit thinking that I'm crazy for foretelling the success of our favorite operating system.

  6. Disney and Sesame Street games on Forum: Future Ports of Games to Linux · · Score: 1

I realize that I'm probably a little bit older than the average geek here, so maybe my perspective is a little different. The one thing that has kept Windoze around my household the last couple of years is the lack of children's games for Linux. My kids have a lot of disney and sesame street games. I can't very well just say, "Well, sorry boys, but no more computer games for you!" If Linux would get just a couple of new nice kids games like Toy Story2 or something, I might be able to pull it off, but we REALLY need something.

automatic guns can only be used for evil purposes (killing people), what if the time comes when its necessary to overthrow our government because they've grown extremely tyrranical? Just like our forefathers overthrew the yoke of oppression of their government, we should have the means at our disposal to do so. Our forefathers tried to insure that we had those means by the 2nd amendment to the constitution. Now however, our rights are suppressed. You may call them evil if you wish, but I believe that our citizenry should have even more potent weapons than automatic weapons available, so that we will be able to overthrow it, if there comes a time when our gov't becomes like Nazi Germany or pulls a Tianamen square. This may sound radical to some ppl, but I think its anti-American to view it any other way. I mean our fore-fathers started a revolution for independence from their gov't b/c of taxation w/o representation, for the most part. Pretty radical dudes.

if you consider gun makers, and cigarette makers and other such organizations, who produce harmful products, abused by others,

Guns are not inherently dangerous products at all. Used properly, at a target range, a gun will do no harm to anyone whatsoever. Cigarettes, on the other hand, will always do harm to the user, even if used in the proper fashion, so please don't compare the two !!!

" Lucikly back then the average smoe didn't have access to firearms. " uh, how ya figure that ? You got some references for it, b/c it seems to me that most gun control laws have been written in this century, and that 100 years ago, many areas of the country were hardly removed from being 'frontier', so I'm sure that many 'average smoe's' still had their firearms.

When I dual booted for the first 9 months of my Linux experience, I learned more and more Linux as I went, as well as spending more and more time in Linux. have you thought about working with the Wine developers to port it ? or get it to run decently under wine. I see that you've got Magic suitcase now too. Last I heard WOTC made the guy stop working on it. I haven't gotten it to run under wine yet either, and haven't found a comparable Linux product. It'd be awesome if it got ported or if I was at least able to run under wine. Its one of the reasons I kept Windoze on my system for so long.

anybody know of a 'Magic Suitcase' or other card db proggie for linux ? I'd love to have one that would directly import my whole database. I know I can set up several Linux db's to do it, and I've started setting one up, but it still not as handy as those dedicated windows card db programs. If anyone knows of one, feel free to email me. thanks.
