Considering most rubbish can be recycled, (ie not going in the black 'everything else' bin), people who complain about their rubbish only being collected every 2 weeks should be made to go and work at a rubbish dump for a week. In our household have separate bins for plastic, glass, metal, cardboard, compostables, paper, and everything else (which is actually very little). It then all gets taken away buy the council and recycled. Its very easy...
I have just traded my Orange UK Treo 600 in for a 650. IMHO the Treo is still the best PDA phone out there. Sure, there are smaller faster, more tricked out, more powerful, more complex phones out there, but none as fully rounded and useable as the Treo.
I used to use a Palm (when it was a 'Pilot'), and carry a phone, but moved to the Treo 600 to eliminate having to carry around 2 devices. I never looked back.
When I was looking for a new phone i looked at other devices as well as the Treo. Most 'phones' are just not 'PDA' enough, they have the usual apps, but are just not powerful enough. I looked at some Symbian devices, especially the M600, but the major problem I had with Symbian is that you need the stylus to do many normal things. Plus the M600 doesn't have a camera. See, the killer feature for the Treo is that you can do everything without getting the stylus out. That and only that clinched it for me.
Pocket PC, Windows Mobile, Windows CE (whatever its called this week) is so completely unsuitable for a phone. Its sluggish, confusing and over complicated, I know, I have to write software on the bloody things! I have written for Palm in the past, and found it an absolute joy to develop for. Some people keep bringing up the multithreaded issue. When I was writing Palm apps, I never thought 'I wish i had threads'. It just never happened.
I will keep on buying Palm OS Treos, so long as they keep making them. If MS kills off Palm OS, it will be a sad sad day indeed, and we will all loose out.
DNF shouldn't need fancy graphics. Ok so make them better than DN3D, but that wouldn't be hard. My friends and I were still playing DN3D together, long after Quake (GLQuake!) and Quake II were out, simply because it was sooo good.
All DNF needs is Duke (of course), his attitude, a good interactive environment, some big guns, and lots of aliens to kill. We used to play this level that was set in a supermarket; having an RPG firefight in the milk section was just pure class, milk everywhere..
I think the problem in the USA is that in order to be on TV it has to be able to stop every 5 mins for advert breaks. Hence you end up with your funny sports. Whats even funnier is that, although you are alone in the world, you still think you're right.
Well to be honest MySQL has been fine for what I have been using for, mainly blog entries on www.fastbug.net, which is pretty light work. I am aware that its not so suitable for large databases.
I currently code in php (and use MySQL). I like some of it (a very rich language), but dislike other bits (a very rich language). Its like a programming language designed by a programmer, but that doesn't necessarily make it any good.
Can someone give me a list of alternatives? Someone mentioned Ruby, I will look into that one. Any more?
"we should "remind" our foreign allies that a country with our military might cannot and will not be forced."
Duh! What you think we are going to attack you with planes and bombs? Would you like that? Gives you an oportunity to spend all that defence money I supose. Why don't you attack us first? Why not invade Europe?
Any country that can elect George Bush as its leader, shouldn't be allowed to run anything! Most of you probobly didn't realise there were other countries, until you found them connecting to your internet..
I have Telewest broadband too, they are upping my 1Mb package to 4Mb FOC (they are upping the upload speed too). There is no download limit. It really rocks, I have been very happy indeed with the service. I remember when I started off with a 56k modem on freeserve, really not that long ago. It was soooo slow!

Europe is the bit between the UK and Russia.. :)
Hahaha I saw that episode the other day..
No, it was bears..
No, GPRS doesn't 'stop' just because you have gone to another application..

What? Do you have any idea what the Romans did for the modern world?

...and the rest of the world.

Ah ok, Ruby on Rails. That link makes some good reading..
I hear talk of Perl a lot, I will read up on that too.

It wasn't MediaWiki , it was TWiki. They have (AFAIK) nothing to do with each other.
