    I use Sprint. With Sprint, if you are on 4G network, you can use Unlimited. I have 5gb limit on 3G networks. Where I Live, I get 4G connection. Just the way sprint is doing. I am renewing my contract with them.

    I think the OP is a Troll. But you bring up a good point. Java is available since 95. All the major vendors who wants to support cross platform as gone with this route or provided their own way of compatability. Crossover and other things are just there for very niche applications where vendors do not want to provide cross platform compatability. Still to use these things people need to muck around (as the OP put it) too many setup configs. This makes crossover and likes to never become a mainstream applications.

    Just reading books on language to learn, only takes you so far. Work on some projects. This helps you to gain understand the intricacies of the language. It helps you understand where you can use certain features of the language efficiently too. Writing code is the best way to learn the language imo.

    What does it offer that any other *nix would not? GUI (On server side it do not make that much sense). Linux license cost is free and there are lots of resources (people mainly) are available and the same cannot be said Apple OS.
    Quite a lot of laptops are making inroads into the business environment which used to be just Windows Shop. But if you still see, they are runnig Windows OS on it for majority of the cases. I think Apple would face the same compitition like MS from Linux and other Open source OS.

    Here is a Free software that rotates Jpg files. http://annystudio.com/software/jpeglosslessrotator/ You can write a batch script to rotate the images. Hope this helps.

    Govt is trying to save money due to budget shortfall. Here is the typical steps involved in collecting the fax that came through (Manual operation)
    1. Person (Govt Employee) needs to get up from his chair
    2. Walk towards the Fax machine
    3. Collect the papers
    4. Walk back towards his/her cubicle
    5. Sit down

    If people are sending fax upside down, the person has to perform an extra step of rotating the pages. By cutting that step, the govt is saving enormous amount of money. Also think about dealing with Govt Employee Union if they added this extra step
