I am not sure what you mean by decent amount of text. If you meant, dos prompt you don't need a 24" monitor either. They demoed the thing on a 80" touchscreen. Engadget has photo of it. Also in the consumer preview they have added more keyboard shortcuts. According to some who has tested the consumer preview, Windows 8 has more keyboard shortcuts than previous versions of Windows. From what I see, they removed the start menu and made a huge set of tiles that launches the application.
This is the guy who said "If you have something you dont want anyone to know then you shouldn't be doing" and this is the guy who said not use G+ if you don't want to share real name. He is the chairman of the company, he will try to put positive spin on negatives of their product. The only thing I hope is he just shut up
It is always a win to the end user. Google would not have made any adjustments if there is no proper competition in the area. Look at MS how it turned out on Browser business.
Even though I use google by default. Thanks to MS and Bing
He is one of the founders of the Open source movement. Just because he called on your beloved company google for their pissing on Open source and its philosophy doesn't mean some of the techies do not care.
May be as others have noted, main stream people may not care. Being in the tech world I guess if you belive in OSS you ought to care.
They do have "Real reboot" option similar to Windows 7 cold boot using the UI or you can also do so from the command prompt shutdown/s/full / t 0 to effect an immediate full shutdown.
What would MS gain by buying Yahoo? They are already serving bing search results. It made sense at that time. Now I don't see much gain for MS from this buy other than for the asian assests that Yahoo may have (Alibaba investment)
Battery life sucks on Android phones. I say work on battery improvements. I hope with Moto in the basket, Google provides a better experience with Android phones than Samsungs and HTCs.
Moto - Andorid,
Sammy - Bada,
HP - WebOS
Nokia - WP7( I think MS may Buy Nokia),
Apple - IOS
BB - BB OS
This is going to be interesting. What happens to companies like HTC and like who do not have any OS that is closely associated with them?
Also the way BB is going. It could be a major acquisition target. Will HTC go for it. or will MS consume it for the sake of getting some more patents
Why not. SharePoint uses.net as its platform. It generated well over a billion $ in revenue in 2008-2009 and still growing. So what if MS did not use it for OS extensions. It is used where it makes lots of sense.
Android's success has resulted in a 'hostile, organized campaign against Android by Microsoft, Oracle, Apple and other companies, waged through bogus patents.'"
Patents are granted to these companies. When did it become bogus? If Google thinks this is bogus. They need to fight and get the patents invalidated. It is not as if Google is a small company and cannot fight. Google may have purposefully violated patents from other companies and hence they do not protect the OEMs who are implementing Android. If Google thinks these are bogus then fight and make sure these patents are invalidated.
What's the big deal with 500M when GOOG made billions out of these ads. Unless there is more severe punishment to the individuals who run these businesses, this wont stop.
After Steve has lubricated their ass or cunt depending on the gender, it is easy for others.
Where as those BB users are the corporate types, for them without Viagra or the things of that nature nothing happens down there and you know in this cost cutting and firing of CEOs on suped up expense report days, it is not possible for them to afford. So they have lesser sex than iPhone users
Majority of Android users are Geeks, they have all the theoritical knowledge but practically they dont have a clue about how to masturbate let alone do anything with the opposite Gender. Atleast we should be happy that some Android users are getting something.
HP Slate had generated a lots of buzz when he showed it in the beginning of this year. I dont think Windows 7 makes a great sense for the the kind of device iPad is. I think MS just thinks people wants to use the same application that they use on PC on Slate or tablet devices. It may not be the case. I think Apple caught MS with its pants down like it is said on this ZDNet blog. MS just handed over a big chuck of their market share to Apple. It started with iPhone, now iPad and next people will think about buying Mac instead of PC. Seriously, MS needs to wake up and do a major make over if it needs to start selling to masses instead of just enterprises.
I RTFA, really all he is saying is programming is Hard. Well Duh, I am sorry to hear that from Google Engineer. May be he will be better off using C# or VB.Net. Welcome to programming.
I think Windows Phone 7 OS UI (or lack of it) is really nice. There isn't much UI to it. It is very basic and minimalistic. When they introduced in March, I did not like it that much. Now playing with the emulator, I think it is very good and stable to work with. I agree with the article on removing the name Windows from it. This is not Windows OS
Facebook is only banned in Pakistan, not in Saudi Arabia or India (I think second largest muslim population) or Indonesia. Some muslim countries may not care I guess.
No doubt banks are culpable in the kind of crap you have mentioned. I am talking about people who deliberately break into peoples account and commint fraud. This is what the case here being discussed.
Identity theft is a big problem to deal for the victim. One of my friend took nearly 3 years to clear all the crap these guys pull. These scum bags belong in prison for life.
According to Zdnet this registy entry do not work in the current version.

Then use Windows 7. Why do you want to upgrade if you want to turn off the metro interface
it was against Honda. Not Toyota. Here is the link http://finance.yahoo.com/news/woman-sues-honda-unlikely-place-195014842.html/
Let us just take 21 million customers (as indicated in the article) for calculation puposes. They are making around $500 bucks on each of the phone according to http://www.bgr.com/2011/10/06/apple-maintains-big-margins-on-iphone-4s-according-to-ubm-analysis//BGR. Now they have to pay what $300 Million. WOW nice go
