    I can remember playing Doom and Doom2 on my HP Vectra XP60 running NeXTSTEP. It became very popular in the office after (and during) office hours. It's what got me into the genre and ultimately to write Only Mortal for the Mac to get Quake3 servers with qstat.

    That's a fair comment and similar in approach to what Apple did to support PPC code on Intel hardware or even old OS9 on OSX.

    Assembler! They were lucky to have assembler. We had t' code in hex, in 32 bytes of RAM, no screen and half the switches were missing!

    I can think of a Gatso camera that takes photos of your rear licence plate (license tag to our American friends). It's just north of Bristol in Coalpit Heath.

    Since changing my SSH ports to something really high (above 50000), I have had exactly *zero* failed password attempts in the last 14 months.

    So all hacks were successful ;-)

    The API for mac drivers is quite different from Linux so it's not just a simple recompile and test. Not that you said that's all it has to be of course!
