my thoughts exactly. if just 1% of the astroid is iridium, at about US$450/oz, it'd be worth over US$30,000 trillion!
screw gold. i want an iridium plated iPod!
The gas moves into the chamber under pressure. The chamber is shaped to send the gas into a whirling vortex. Then the hot molecules go one way and the cold ones go the other. But I think it takes very high pressures to produce the required speeds.?
this place sells them and they even explain the theory with neat diagrams. apparently, you don't need extremely high pressures, only 80-100 PSI, to produce temps of -50 deg F! a shop air compressor could easily supply that.
i guess that the attractive thing about the vortex tube is that it's extremely simple (ie. inexpensive) in it's construction with corresponding low-to-no maintenance.
They're just remaking the same movies over and over, with different names for the characters, different actors, and in different cities.
I think it's unavoidable to rehash stories. I mean, one person's experiences aren't so unique that some other person hasn't experienced something similar. But even if screenwriters mix it up and introduce twists in pursuit of a unique script, they can only do so much before it gets unbelievable and stupid.
you: I have a mom and a dad.
me: No way. Me too!
you: But wait, there's a twist. My dad's a midget quadruple amputee!
that's a short-sighted attitude. have you no vision?
or the highlander. there can be only one...

How can you rotate anything without moving parts?

What would it do? Jiggle slightly?

i wonder if Mac OSX will install on it, very minimal install. someone want to write kernel extensions/drivers for it? or maybe just use Mac-on-Linux?
