"Anyone that puts family or themselves first NEVER get promoted." I completely disagree. I have yet to give two shits about any company I've worked for, and usually get promoted pretty quickly. Office space has it right. Just a straight shooter with upper management written all over me, I guess. You're definitely right about good work having zero to do with promotions, though. Talking with your boss(es) instead of working is generally more to your advantage.

The walmart I camped out in front of had 29 wiis, but only 6 ps3s. That's been the general pattern everywhere I checked in my city. About 5 times as many wiis as ps3s.

How is it that an ignorant rant like this is marked insightful? I guess the secret to getting modded highly is accusing the mods in advance of modding them things like flamebait or troll.

So, I'm sure this will just be modded flamebait, troll, or offtopic.

OS evangelism is easily understood. It is in the best interest of every user of a minority OS like linux or OS X for more people to switch to their OS. This is because a larger user base will encourage more companies to develop for a platform. This way you don't have to rely on 3rd party alternatives to windows software that may or may not be perfectly compatible.

  8. Re:Embedded. on Apple and Windows Will Force Linux Underground · · Score: 4, Interesting

Embedded windows is ugly. I used to work a cashier job, and when I started, all of the registers had some variation of embedded linux. Eventually the touch screens started to die, so the registers were replaced with new, "better" ones. These ran XP embedded, and were nothing but trouble. Wouldn't print reciepts right, wouldn't take credit cards half the time, and just froze at least a few times a day.

I also bought a MB pro, and I loved it for about a month. Then it died without warning (hard drive failure). I went to the apple store, and they looked at it for about 2 minutes before offering me a new one, which I of course accepted. I've had this one for a couple months now, and absolutely no problems. The MB pro is my first apple product, and I have to say, it is worth the extra money for the peace of mind.
