Yep, did the same at Staples during high school. I remember one particular Sunday morning where I had sold a bunch of plans by noon, basically tripling my pay check for those sorry few hours, "$19 an hour! WOW!"

I don't regret selling the plans, some of them were nice, like the laptop screen repair. I never followed scripts, you can read people pretty easily after a while of selling electronics, I don't think I bothered asking even 50% of the time. I was only a top seller like once, but it didn't bother me.

Just remember most of these salespeople are just kids doing their job. If you don't want it, just say no. If they keep bothering you about it, just vote with your wallet and walk out.

The margin on computers is very small, if you would just go in, buy JUST the desktop or notebook and nothing else, they would rather not to business with you. What they want to sell you is the printer, the usb cable, the ink cartridges, and of course, the service plan.

I timeshift everything, TV now works around my schedule.

As for sci-fi shows, Battlestar Galactica is on Friday night, has that stopped that show from becoming wildly popular being on a cable network? Bionic Woman was on NBC last year on a Wednesday, that got canned. I think it has less to do about the timeslot and more to do about the content. Viewers can be picky, and while Fox has made some atrocious decisions (I think Arrested Development, others think Firefly), they're generally smarter than we expect them to be.

Thinks about Arrested Development... okay, maybe not.

That price is still high but it's not insane. When I worked at started working at Staples back in 2000, we sold EDO memory for a similar high price. The technology was totally out of date, and the memory was so small comparatively, but people would periodically need it, and that was enough.

Exactly! If GM really wanted to change their image, they'd take some of that Volt R&D money and put it towards building factories in the US (or re-engineering their stagnating SUV plants) to build and sell the diesels in America. Instead, they just have this giant promise on the horizon, which they expect me to foot the bill for anyway. Sell us the diesels.

And conservatards? Seriously, most of your posts are much smarter than that. I think you're confusing fiscal conservatives and Republicans, they don't overlap that much anymore on a Venn diagram.

Unbridled capitalism would mean customers could vote with their wallet and go somewhere else, but yet there are actual customers in here complaining that there are no other options!
