  1. bad cutomer service on Has My Cell Number Been Cloned? · · Score: 1

I would tell t-mobile that I'm leaving their service for a different company. If I ever call customer service and they hang up on me I don't want to deal with that company.

  2. Java Running at Native Speeds on Frozen Chip from IBM hits 500 GHz · · Score: 1

Considering the speeds that average at about 2GHz on current processors even at room temperature this is running 175 times faster. With this increase the drawbacks of interpreted languages and languages run on virtual machines, such as Java, will be null and void. I can't wait until this processor is mass produced, and available at a reasonable price, but at that point Windows will have system requirements that make it seem just as slow as the current processors.

  3. Why not both in a single lang on The End of Native Code? · · Score: 1

I personaly would like to see a language that has the ability to be both interpreted and compiled. That way you could have the best of both worlds. If you need the low-level functionality certain parts could require compilation if used, but if you just want something quick and don't need that access you could interpret it. This would reduce the need to learn as many languages, and would make for a powerful platform for programmers. Now all we need is an able bodied group to come up with such a language.

Wow, that sucks. Thanks for the info. Now I have to go write my congressman and tell him I'm not voting for him again if he voted for this, and then I need to find the house voting records.

I can't believe I'm reading this. It is a video game, get off your butt and go outside. Don't you have anything to do? If this get's to be too much the government will take my tax money to start clinics so that people can get this "addiction" taken care of. It is really hard to be employed when you spend 20 hrs a day on gaming. Our society will go into a major recession, and unemployment will sky rocket. What will we ever do.

  6. Re:How Peculiar on U.S. House Rejects Net Neutrality · · Score: 1

Wait, didn't it say that the house rejected the bill. Wouldn't that mean that the tolls will not be in place? Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but I thought for once The House stopped something that it should. Can someone clear me up on this. Am I backwards or are you complaining about a situation that isn't going to come to light since they rejected it?

  7. useful? on Making Science Machine Readable · · Score: 1

This sounds like it could be quite useful. I wonder if people doing the experiments are going to be willing to become more like programmers to input the code or will they be hiring out? I think it will be a long time before this is a standard use item. It might be useful if everyone is usig it, but as long as only a few are using it I don't think it will advance the scientifc community in any way. Does anyone know what the computer is doing with these experiments? Is this just a data storage system or does it analyze and compare with other experiments on file?

  8. Controlling your Employees on U.S. Service Personnel Data Stolen · · Score: 1

This all comes down to being able to trust your employees. The government has a lot of poeple working for them, and it is impossible to make sure that every employee is doind exactly what they should. Maybe we can spend more tax dollars to get guards to search everyone before they leave and train them on how to look for information on computers. Then since we can't trust every guard we need to spend more to higher people to watch the guards, and more to watch the watchers, and more to watch the watchers of the watchers, and ... I think you get the idea. I hear there are a lot of Service Memebers bringing a class-action against the VA in this case. Being a military member myself I don't get why. If you want to sue then get the man that took the info home. If you sue the VA and win then the VA is going to have to pay a lot of money out of its already decreasing budget. How will we get the good healthcare and other bennifits if the budgt is going to send every service member a check for $1.50. Let's face it class actions aren't very good at getting anyone money except the lawyer. I say we just look for the thiefs, who most likely didn't know that info was on the laptop, and put them in jail. The laptop has most likely been reformatted and sold at a pawn shop.

  9. What will the RICAA have to say about this on EMI Launches Advertising-Supported P2P Service · · Score: 1

This sounds a little fishy to me. I wonder how long it will be until the industry tries to sue them. I can see the thoughts running through the executive heads now, "You mean they can listen to sa whole song before buying it!!! Betty, get my lawyers' numbers. We are going to court." I would like to try it and it sounds great. Most of the time I listen to a song a few times and then don't listen to it for a long time. This would give me a chance to listen to it multiple times before I decide to buy it. The only thing I don't like si the file format. Am I going to need another piece of software in order to play it. Don't we already have enough media players installed. I'm tired of placing a DVD in my drive, and it trying to install another crappy DVD player. I already have one installed you idiots. Go away and leave me be.

  10. siging up on Fraud in Internet Dating Prompting Regulation · · Score: 1

I can't believe people are trying to sue dating sites over what the people on the site are doing. If they did enough to stop some of this from happenning the sign up process would be so intensive no one would continue to sign up. What is the site doing that is harming these people. Next time someone begs for money on the sidewalk I'm bringing suit against the city I'm in because they aren't kicking all the homeless out. This is so dumb. You are on an online dating site, you are already putting yourself at risk by meeting these people. Suck it up and move on. We don't need more laws. There are already too many out there anyway. Why don't we just move to a socialist government. That way tey can tell us our every move and kill anyone who disagrees.
