At the very least how about some logic and reason instead of agenda pushing? We all know if "Jim Gray" was substitute in the title with either "Steve Jobs" or "Linus Torvalds" half of the "comedians" would be out there in scuba gear, while the other half would be certain the rapture was near.
I don't know why, but the recurring theme in my head while reading the article was the similarity to Micho Kaku's experience in HS that he describes in his book Hyperspace: A Scientific Odyssey Through Parallel Universes, Time Warps, and the 10th Dimension...I believe it's page 5-6.
I remember as a child reading a "Southern California Edison" flyer (~'93) that claimed by the year 2000 20% of cars would be electric, I wish all the success in the world to GM.
This is a great marketing decision, think about it...
1. If they continue to hammer that you "need to have a hard drive", for music, videos, Tivo like functions and D/L content, those are legitimate reasons. Not to mention that the HD is portable and massive so in the long how much are you going to save in memory cards?!?!
2. You keep the price sweet and inviting, lets get real, casual gamers (as will parents) will look down on nearly $5-6 hundred with a few games. On the other hand how many PS2's/Xbox's sold for that same exact price 4-5 years ago?!
I have an inclination that some thing along the following is going to happen....

and/or
2. In time for the PS3 release, MSFT will be prepared to ship the 2nd generation consoles...AKA the 360 along the lines of built in WiFi, HDDVD drive, larger HD...
