Interesting. From the mother's own lips comes the same apathy as the parents of the columbine (and other) killers.

So, what surprise is it that suicide or homicide is the price to pay for "closing the bedroom door" on the modern teenager? Hell, you'd think we'd be learning something by now.

and then, once approved as a genuine microslave, *your* computer then immediately begins downloading demonic alien virus packs [aka microsoft update crap] from the redmond campus -- along with bill gates personal self-porn gallery -- as "preparing your asshole for the first time" flashes across the screen...

hey, i like free stuff as much as the next, but there's something wrong when we are willing to pay for things *advertised* as being worth paying for -- but yet, we hate to pay for things with no advertising budget because they have no advertisting budget to convince us of worth!

oh yeah, it's the addiction thing - so programmers need to make software that is addictive, right?

go figure... we buy nintendo etc without bitching about that too, because it's advertised to be that way

  20. Gimme a Rock-Solid NT Emulator on Bringing CAD to Linux · · Score: 1
I think that what needs to be the focus here is not so much the apps themselves being ported to linux, but linux and the open-source community taking the 'wine' idea and really making it work so that ANY NT/9* app will run smoothly in linux.

the linux bunch can swing this kinda thing themselves from the bottom end [emulation] a lot easier than say getting autodesk and all the other killer software companies to REALLY port autocad or *whatever* to native linux...

besides, i don't want to have to wait for every app i want to be ported to linux just so i can use it... just think of the other killer apps for 3-d etc out there that are waiting for the linux community to make wine or *whatever* truly what we want it to be.
