For all you moderators out there. Normally something like this would get moded down, but hey it made me life after a long dreary day...so please cut it some slack;)
Exactely, they still have the right to say what ever the hell they want, but the school reserves the right to punish those who are breaking a contract with them. The goverment A.K.A. the state would side with the school in a ny civil case,(more than likely I am not a lawyer this is not legal advise)becasue the students were in violation of the contract they made with school upon attending it.
The state could not silence the student as long as they were not menacing or libiling someone.
Just my Two sence of mispelled ramblings
But not int he public out cry Sense. If all the songs are legit and not part of the RIAA little monopoly then maybe (big maybe)the 50 million users that are left will start liking Indy music starting a trend.
This would, if it cascaded, really bite into the RIAA's Monopoly. Though I doubt this will happen
Napster's backers will say you can't be profitable so bye bye money... Bye bye Napster.
Even better lets get those tobacco lawyers to Sue Car manufactures for putting in the radios and passenger seats. They should be liable for allowing such distractions.
The father of computer science, the breaker of the enigma code...killed himself over his shame of being gay. What a great waste he had so much more to offer. When i hear gay bashing i always think of him. And i think to myself, We have so much farther to go. (as a society im a hetrosexual myself)Its good to know times are better though(at least better than in Turing's day).
If they didnt have the power to regulate they way they do there would be no need for campaign finaice reform (which has first ammendment issues)If the goverment had to follow strict constructionalist reading of the constituion this wouldnt be a problem. You give the power to regulate back to states and states alone watch K street dry up. But then the special interest wouldnt allow that. 50 places to spread the effort. Thats would spread them to thin. What to do what to do. The left will never give up federalism in any shape or form. So they have to either take way the right of association (campaign finaice reform) or let goverment distrubute goods. Ayan Rand (whom i do not follow) had it right. Captilism is an unknown ideal. when you charge someone as a nazi and brandish the word with unbridled aboandonon, this lowers the bar for what a nazi really is. then the word just becomes a cheap swear word associated with people with little immagization. God forbid that we ever forget or the evil of the NAZI's. Saying that Gore and bush are nazi (when they may be slighly authoritarian maybe even fascist) is a cheap shot that is in my opion a danger of making the word less of an evil thing than it really is.
The state de-regulated the power market for producers but kept the consumers in a artificial market with price ceilings. This caused scaricity.
That is not deregulation.
I was told by my isp (Time
Warner) that they had to block this capabiltiy becasue of problems with spamming. Be careful what you wish for you may get it.
The issue here is not AIM it's the FCC saying to AOL we can regulate you to do what we want you to do. Eventually that will filter down to individual liberties of individual net users. With a company you have dollar votes. Also, if you do not like what there doing, get together with like minded people then buy voting stock and change the policy. A corporation doesn't force you do anything. They do not send armed thugs to your door. But, the government can.(and has on occasion as an agent for corporations which shows the problem of government power not corporate power) What we as a community are doing is equivalent of asking Satan to get Beazealbub of our backs. But it's a Faustian deal. What we get in the end will be far worst.
In an economy that grows at 3-5 percent of course record sales go up. But are they growing faster than ever before. Is there growth tracking with the rest of the economy. I haven't seen these figures so I can't say. But that is the question that needs asking. In My mind they probably have. Because I believe in the argument that napster promotes music and helps the industry. But like the say opinions are like...
Regulations are how they gain control. You know before you make such a statement as know your history. Well...You should know your history. Governments tax corporations for other corporations thus helping corporations to gain market share...Man look at Europe.
By the way, you are not paying a tax the corporation is and its being passed to you like all regulation that causes expenses is passed to you.
I am not an Ayn Randian but she makes a good point in her book
"Capitalism the unknown ideal" , that the problem is we have never tried it.(capitalism that is)
Your Socialist solutions are the problem.
The last mile....look at peer to peer sharing now the copyright holders are pitching a fit. want video on demand wait until the last mile is breached.."Hey boby want to watch the matrix icq fred and mary and less watch it i will set up the server"...the WAR is comming...the xbox who cares.

This statement made me stop reading the article.
"To play a technically superb title like Unreal Tournament, you basically need a $3,000 PC for it to run at any acceptable frame rate. rs on page 2. "
If the author trusts people who make statements like this the author doesn't know what he is talking about.
What are you going to do when the government says its bad too criticize us? Then they say the majority agrees now we will throw you in jail. Hay I (government) think those Jews are bad let's kill them. Oops this already happened. Let's not let it happen again. The "I am not a bad guy", argument," so who cares", is moral cowardice.

To call gore or Bush a nazi is to cheapen the people lives who suffered under the REAL German National Socialist Party.

The goverment will classify a working model so they can keep thier secrets.
