From what I've heard this is common practice at MS. When the app gets minimized it releases/caches a lot of memory. There was a story on a MS person's blog but I'm to lazy to find it out.
What the hell, since when do we have Republican and Democrats categories??? Oh, and I have no idea what the 2 logos mean? Some care to enlighten me?:-D
You mean Firefox 2, don't you? I mean I've been using it for about 1 year now, and it's not even mentioned. Also, just from personal experience I have my doubts that IE 6 is faster than FF1.5 in JS.
Pretty great tool.
I have Slashdot, reddit - programming(don't use reddit full unless you are prepared to see lots and lots of impeach Bush articles), engadget, Bbc, The Onion, and some local news sites.
Oh yeah and also Dilbert.
I think the strategy has changed, at least in XP/2003/Vista, all the removable USB devices now are set by default to Optimize for Fast Removal.
And I don't know if you noticed but even if you have a long forgotten directory handle for the device it will not allow you to "Safely Remove" so it's quite improbable for Windows to mess things up when using Safely...
Not that great on an Ipod though. My 4rd gen Ipod keeps on crashing totally random and the battery life is horrible. I still use it from time to time, but Apple OS(or whatever it's name is) is better IMHO.
The main problem with Intel wireless drivers is the binary firmware needed to use the device. The open source driver is nothing more than a link between the kernel and the binary blob. The main issue with Intel is however the restrictive distribution rights of the firmware in question.
I don't really think it's about the OS. From what I have understood mainly the ACPI implementation on some system sucks which causes all this problems.
As a small example, I had to wait for the first BIOS patch on my HP laptop so Windows could resume from Sleep(Ubuntu worked fined though)
With the top two graphics chip companies controlling the majority of the market
Hate to break it to you, but NVIDIA + ATI 50% of the market. By volume Intel is the largest player in the video card market and they have FOSS drivers.
He's looking for a web site that does all that. scheduleworld.com does just that(SyncML 1.2 + iCal) and also allows for sync with Google Calendar. Works almost perfect on my Nokia E50.
I mean, I know C++ is an awful computing language to write anything in, and modern languages have garbage collectors, but still there's enough memory checking tools [cprogramming.com] out there so they can catch these memory leaks by now.
Yup, I'd really like to see a web browser written in one of those modern languages(mmmm...Imagine a Firefox written in Java...now there's memory usage...)
blah, the right come-back was Steve is that you? :-D
he said mirrored - so probably he meant RAID 1 :-)

Wow, What a coincidence, I live in that country. This happens every time. :P
Let you guess which one. A beer for the fastest

Delphi(till version 6) and Kylix were great tools, despite all the bugs and the damned impossible price.

Also, the recently released Firefox 3 Alpha 1 does not pass the test
Heard that the new Gecko engine passed Acid2, but seems like the patch wasn't included in this build.

Yeah, right...backwards compatibility. Ever tried opening a Word 2003 doc with Word 2000???

Yeah, but what if that isn't your code to start with? ;)
Huh?
What does that mean?
Well, you could try this ugly hack: http://kde-cygwin.sourceforge.net/qt3-win32/screen shots.php?img=kmail.png. Still beta though.
Rob is that you?
How the fuck do they now this guy or whatever was planning to commit a murder. And hey, there is more:
Yeah they should go arrest this guy because we think he was planning to kill his wife. What's next?
From what I have read it has never been usefull against avian flu.
On a side note, living in a affected country(Romania, lots of avian cases) this whole thing seems a little over-blown.
Well H5N1 is a mutated form of the avian flu virus that can infect humans, so to late....
