... and explain that you are using a Dvorak keyboard, so that you can type faster with your manly hands...
you know what they say about the size of a man's hands right?
Yes, I'm sure that will win over the girls for you.
Today in Germany, school children from age 5 upwards learn about this terrible time in the Nation's history and because of the openness and recognizance of today's germany with respect to its recent history, its population are very very wary of allowing Government too much power over its people.
I don't know what part of Germany you've been too, but the time I've spent there makes me think that Germans believe there was a black hole in history between 1935-1945.
Other than that, I agree that we (in America, at least) are far too apathetic and trusting of an overly strong executive. This is a part of our culture, though. We glorify Presidents who bend or break the Constitution (Lincoln, Teddy and Franklin Roosevelt, JFK, to name a few). For this reason (and others), we are most certainly doomed to experience the oppressive policies of a well-meaning power-hungry aristocrat. Only then will we remember to words and intentions of our early forefathers.
Whoa... calm down dude. Personally, I'd rather live in a world where a lawyer can spend $10,000 to threaten an anonymous blogger than a world where legitimate legislation is threatened with mob violence.
Vigilantism is almost never necessary. Vigilantism is anarchy. Anarchy is only useful when there is no alternate form of change. If you want anarchy, move to somewhere outside of the civilized world and see how well you get on.
I think the value is behind being the default search engine. What SE would pay to have their own converts (whether Googlites, Yahooligans, or LiveHeads) to use their technology?
Yes... let us blame bad legislation on all religious people. Religious people are after all... evil... right?
There's a conceptual fallacy in there somewhere...
Anyway, the real problem is not with religious people, but people who don't think that parents can or should be responsible for themselves or their children. Not all religious people think like this.
Summary: This is about personal responsibility, the government's influence, and video games. Not religion.
I am a proponent of HUGE tax increases on gasoline. Push it up to the $6 level. People won't stop driving until it really hurts to do it.
It's really too bad you'll never be elected into public office. There is no way that will happen, for several reasons.
Not that I'm personally opposed to the thought. Last time I was in Germany, prices were around 4.50 in EUROS... which is about 5-6 dollars.
The whole problem with comparing us to Germany (or any other country for that matter), is that we have fundamentally different lifestyles. Since the population is so heavily concentrated in cities there, mass transit is easier to set up. This is most definately a complex problem, and I'm sorry but just raising the taxes will not help.
Run Linux on it, not windows.

Until then, though... I didn't say any of this.

Heh, and you were modded insightful why?

97 / 9 = 10.777... 98 / 9 = 10.888... Implies 99 / 9 = 10.999... That is illogical. your sample data doesn't justify your conclusion
