Unless its a non-warrant search for terrorist activities.
And if you follow the propaganda, terrorists use almost every crime to raise funds. How to side step the constitution in 1 easy step, create a loophole.
The judge was worried about the person's rights, guilty or innocent. We seem to be a loop-hole country, our legal system isn't about justice, its about politics, money, revenge and religion. Not saying the system is all bad, we have many criminals, and the cops protect us every day. But when the special interest groups muddy the whole legal system, Judges that side on the constitution are trying to protect the innocent.

The linux 2880 and win2832 drivers are rock solid. The only blue screens Ive had (and rare) are memory, dma or a panic. X has crashed more due to KDE apps than nivida drivers.
If I remember correct, didnt the US federal government arrest a russian for his company breaking the DMCA?
The US federal government can arrest foreign citizens, they do it all the time. Politics is a nasty game, and it extends to the whole world. M$, Cisco, IBM and every other global company company has offices in most countries. Corporations with the backing of the US federal goverment can put pressure on smaller countries to pass dmca laws, or arrest you.
Games that use software mode work ok, but if its opengl or directx use winex.
Winex... CS 1.4 works, but some servers think linux is a cheat, so you cant join. Hopefully they fix this, but I doubt valve will. Tribes loads prefectly, but you cant play due to a keyboard/mouse problem. If they could fix this, that would be awesome. Quake3 engine games work very well, I find the mouse to be faster than windows, FPS is about 10FPS less, so if you get 70FPS in windows is about 60FPS in linux. Very playable.
VMWARE... CS 1.4 works about 25-30fps in software mode. Its ok, but not great.
I also use nvidia 2880 drivers, gcc3, preempt(patched) 2.4.19-pre7 kernel, emu10k1 audigy drivers. Trying to get every bit of performance I can get from my AMD machine.
If you have a fast enough cpu, a 2gh+ machine, sound works alot better. On my dual 800, sound was ok, but did skip. On my amd 1800, i can watch dvds, mp3s, and play mpegs with no sound or video skipping. I also used the newest emu10k1 drivers. Of course pre-empt and a gig of ram didnt hurt either. (-;
Ill Also agree. A speedier cpu, a 2ghz and you can do everything your use too. It has overlays for watching dvd/divx. Play mp3s with winamp, even a few games in software mode works in the 30fps+ mode.
But in Windows apps, it truely shines, I can using Mozilla with those nice cleartype fonts in winxp. On my laptop a P3-550, Vmware lets me use office at an (kinda) acceptable level, it does pause for a sec when I first read drives, or touch a network drive. But after than, it sparks up and is peppy enough for outlook and excel.
If Vmware came out with a Gamming edition, released a video driver that has full opengx and dx support, it would be almost perfect.
And a 100mbit or Gigabit ethernet card (emulated) is needed, if you running 4 servers all working together, 10mbit is a bottleneck.
Suse and Mandrake installs are on par with windows. They detected printers, sound cards, gfx cards, mouse/keyboard, usb, everything. It all comes down to, add user, add network settings, go. Only in Suse/Mandrake you get to pick your X window manager.:)
I like most things about RPM, it takes a little to learn, since the man and the howto are not very informative on examples. I was able to install KDE3 on my mandrake 8.2 workstation, test it out, and uninstall it after. Was quiet simple.
Real problem with RPM, when there are lots of dependices, deleting an RPM is a pain. When I erase an rpm, rpm -evv, i would like a --withdeps (example) flag. I couldnt find such flag.

Of course, lower price means increased business, and that means longer lines.

I use my CDR for backup. 1 Cd holds my OS (ghost) and 3 for apps (compressed) I was thinking of getting a backup, but nothing I could loose that I dont have on cd. The majority of room is mp3 cd's and video games. Just backup the save-games on CDs and patches. On the unix box, my/etc and/home fit on 1 or 2 bziped cd. I can restore linux in about 30 minutes, same as a backup. But ya, if I had to reload all my video games from CD or MP3s that would take a couple hours. But havnt seen any good cheep and reliable backup over a few gigs that I wanted to blow the money on. 300 bux for 20/40gb DAT or 600 bux for a 35/70gb AIT.
Really, if Its something important, I just backit up on a cd or 2.
Lucky the problem of running our of IDE spots is gone with newer motherboards. The problem on older motherboards, only 2 ide controllers, you would run your HD on the primary and CD on your secondary. Sharing would slow access down, and if you mix pio/udma modes they would slow down even again.
Now with the newer 4 ide controllers on motherboards, 2 are normally combo raid/fast controllers. So you can have 4 devices on unshared controller, and get the most speed out of them.
I currently have 2 80 giggers on my raid/fast controller, each on its on channels. And my DVD and CDR on the non-raid motherboard channels. Nothing shared, and I put my swap on 2d drive to get max performance. IDE is perfect for my workstation, fast and tons of room. If I ever go crazy, I can have a total of 8 IDE devices on my PC. And add another IDE card for 12 (Max for motherboards) I do this for my linux server, all IDE, and makes a great cd-rom tower. With the tower case and an extra IDE controller, I put in 4 CDs. The built in ide controller handles the 3 HD's and 1 CD/R.
I wouldnt use scsi for a workstation, but for a pc box server, the price of a ide raid card with cpu/ram would be the only factor. Major servers like sun/hp/etc scsi is your only option.

Suse has the best sparc64 release, I'm running Suse 7.3 with Icewm on a sunblade. KDE/Gnome is overkill for it. (imho)
Ill be glad when 8.0 for Sparc64 comes out. Other distros support 32bit, but when it comes to 64 bit, Suse is the way to go.
