  1. I guess they won the patent lottery. on RIM Settles Long-Standing Blackberry Claim · · Score: 3, Insightful

This is ridiculous. Why should a company with only an idea and no product have any claim to over half a billion dollars? It's not like Blackberry stole their idea, right?

  2. Okay, it's not theft, but... on RIAA Sues a Child · · Score: 1

What if the said child has a "Free cd!" stand across the street from one of the RIAA's CD shops where she gives away burnt cd-r's of the stores wares. Sure, she's not _stealing_ anything by giving them away, but she is surely depriving the store of business. Would there be so much fuss if the RIAA sued the girl then? What's the difference between giving them away on kazaa and giving away cd-r's across the street from a store?

  3. Re:Market decide.. don't make me laugh on Music Exec Fires Back At Apple CEO · · Score: 1

You have a choice.. you don't have to buy their music. There are other suppliers. If they want to charge $1 million, let them. Just don't buy it.

  4. Re:Photo and PIN on Cash Card / Credit Card?? on RFID MasterCard · · Score: 1

I don't get this. From what I understand, credit card users are insured against theft. If someone steals my card and I report it, no skin off my back. Why all the fuss about "Check for id"? Who cares?

  5. for those with rsi problems... on When Word Processors Are Out: What's The Best Pen? · · Score: 1

I prefer the Dr. Grip. It's smooth, and easy to hold (because it's fairly thick and has a soft grip), plus it's refillable. I have both the ball point and the gel. While I prefer ball point, only the gel comes in Charcoal Gray. Kind of expensive though, $5, but well worth it.

That's not true. There was that 9million by 9million pixel display from IBM. It was mentioned on slashdot and I saw it at siggraph 2001.

  9. This shouldn't give Linux a bad name on Hacking DirecTV over TCP/IP using Linux · · Score: 1

Why is everyone so worried about what this hack will to do Linux' reputation in the media? This hack could probably be recompiled for several other operating systems. Why the hell do you care what the media thinks of Linux anyway?

WTF? It's not about the right to cheat. JC didn't GPL his code so people like you could cheat. And where is it written that you have a right to cheat? Fucking dumbass.

  12. Only one good point is made. on Scott Kurtz Blasts Comic Strips on Tech Support · · Score: 1

Ignorance != stupidity. Just because someone made a funny mistake doesnt mean they are dumb. However, I disagree with his opinion of what is considered funny and what is not, but that should be expected since I do not find his comic strip funny.

  13. Re:demo 384? should be pre.0.0.0.1 on Linux Unreal Tournament Available · · Score: 1

If stability is what you must have, then you cannot play the latest games... hehe... latest games need latest hardware which is latest drivers, etc. etc. etc. I personally am used to crashes. Comes with the territory...

  14. Who says Eve must re-transmit ALL of the pho... on Quantum Encryption Explained · · Score: 1

Who says Eve has to re-transmit the photon's she doesn't know the spin for? Couldn't Eve only re-transmit the photons she knows? The only side effect would be that Bob gets less photons but it seems like there could be any number of things that could make that happen, so maybe it could go unnoticed? Eve would be sending the correct polarization.
