You'd be rather foolish to wipe a disk or partition without double checking the disk sizes and device names. If you want to be really safe you could just remove the data drive while installing.
Besides, the BIOS usually lists PATA devices first, and they did come along first, so I see no reason why SATA devices should be listed first.
There is a reason why L-A-W-Y-E-R sounds like L-I-A-R.
Is it because they both start in L, end in R and contain an I or a Y, both of which have similar phonetic properties?
This is fun! I'll try some:
There's a reason why PDF file sounds like pedophile.
There's a reason why cheese sounds like she's.
There's a reason why icicles sounds like bicycles.
Obviously anyone who uses Adobe products should be sent to jail, women are a basic ingredient for pizza, and you should always wear thermal underwear when you go cycling.
Fair enough for that situation, but doing it on a modern forum through a modern browser is like pushing your car around in neutral because you're worried about straining the engine[/car analogy]
What difference does it make what mode he posts in? He doesn't have to insert his own newlines. Well, if he's posting in HTML he'd have to insert newlines to start a new paragraph, but you don't need to manually start every new line, it's the browser's job to word wrap paragraphs.
Did you even look at the guy's post? You don't seem to get what I was commenting on..
FYI I have Preview, Quote Parent, Options and Cancel rather than the old style posting options, think it's an option in preferences.
If you don't mind me asking, why do you feel the need to insert newlines yourself rather than using the browser's built in word-wrapping? People should be able to set their own preferences for reading text (by changing the window size). If someone sets their window size smaller than your own then it's going to be even more annoying than having an irregular left justified paragraph. It actually has made me not want to read what you have written.
I've seen a couple of other people doing this too - it just makes your posts harder to read, people!. [/offtopic]
You can use bleeding for mechanical/hydraulic systems too. And if it's looks like blood dripping across someone's face, bleeding seems a decent enough use of the word.
Likewise, I just left my Wii at my mum's house after some holidays and have never really missed it.
Bought my sister a snowboarding game recently for her to use with her Wii balance board, however to make the snowboard move forward you have to wave your arms around like an idiot - WHY (even worse, it doesn't really detect the movement all that well either, and often misinterprets the movement for the 'jump' movement, so your character hops up and down a lot while doing this too)? It would be much more natural and fun with just a button press. Waving your arms is fine for the ski-ing part of the game as at least it makes sense, but for the snowboarding it just really pisses me off. When you're just using the motion controls because they're there, rather than because they improve the controls, it's stupid.
Well, the fact that she lied to the court seems to fairly objectively show she was trying to obstruct the course of justice and therefore should receive full punishment? I'm of course nothing close to being a lawyer, but if she is caught barefaced lying to the court, I don't see why she should be shown any leniency.
I don't know why you're going on about that - he didn't say you shouldn't use it as part of your backup system, only that by itself it does not constitute a backup, and that is IMO the most important point to take from this whole page discussion. Too many people think RAID is a method for securing your data, that's how it was first introduced to me anyway.
Don't think he even said anything about the pros and cons of different media. It's unrelated to the whole RAID situation, you could technically create a RAID setup with any type of media.
Yep, and he was saying nothing about tapes at that point, he was just saying "why RAID is not a backup".. in fact I don't think he mentioned tapes at all in that post!
Here in the UK I think you're allowed to have pictures of breasts at 16, have to be 18 for fully naked pics though. Then again in some other countries it probably wouldn't be illegal no matter what the ages were, but I consider this a very borderline case since she's 17 at the moment, so it doesn't seem too perverted from my cultural perspective - in the UK you can legally marry or have sex as long as you're both 16 or over (think it's 18 for homosexuals). You can also start drinking here at 18. I'm glad I don't live in the US:P
Are you suggesting a tape that is in your tape drive in the PC/Server room is going to be readable after enduring a fire?
No, he's simply saying that you need to store backups off-site otherwise they can get taken out along with the original data. Only an idiot would buy an expensive tape drive then just leave one tape in there all the time.
Assuming the opposite of nobody is everybody, what is your reason for believing that? Do you honestly think your average computer sits there wishing that they had a crappier alternative to google, or that users of Photoshop spend all their time wishing that they had a better alternative? IMO they don't, because it is widely accepted that they are already using the best option. Yes, that is bad in the long run because it encourages the creators of products and services to get lazy, but most people don't think about it. Maybe most people on slashdot do, but that is entirely different.
How do you expect to stop for someone opening a car door right in front of you unless you're doing 5mph? In the UK at least we're taught to drive at a door's width from cars - where space permits - to avoid such a situation. If you can't leave that much room, then it's a good idea to watch out for idiots who might open their doors without checking their mirrors, and shadows/feet of kids or crazy/drunk people who might emerge from behind parked vehicles. Obviously if you're going to be devoting that much attention to the sides of the road you would be better to slow down a bit too (and that also means that if you do hit someone there's less chance of the injury being fatal). I know some people would prefer to just barrel along (and I'm one of them), but when you see the difference in braking distance between 20 and 30, it can be quite surprising. I need to remind myself of such things at the moment actually, and remind myself just to relax and take my time, because my speed when travelling through busy city streets is picking up a bit again..
Liquid water's intrinsic natural color may be demonstrated by looking at a white light source through a long pipe, filled with purified water, that is closed at both ends with a transparent window. The light turquoise blue color is caused by weak absorption in the red part of the visible spectrum

The obviously reason is that if it did, you would never be able to stop those pesky singing pirates

Country doesn't have to mean a nation, it can just mean countryside, of which the state of New York surely has some..

I'd probably go with "pissing".

Nobody would care about MS having a monopoly if they actually made the best software. Or if they released all their software for free, as Google does.
without the option to tell it not to
What? You can't see the big 'No' button next to the big 'Yes' button?
No, he thinks that working on HUDs and blowing shit up is the type of thing that pre-pubescent boys want to do just as much as computer games are.

Actually, according to Wikipedia (emphasis mine):
