    Most decent mobiles have a video camera mounted on the front these days anyway.. stills camera on the back, video cam on the front. Not that I've ever used it of course.

    My phone also has a touchscreen, which doesn't have any scratches that I've noticed, and the fingerprints just wipe off... we already have all the technology for loads of cool stuff that is supposedly 'future' tech. We just don't have the right pricing schemes.. stupid greedy telcos..

    I've been pissed off at Microsoft bloat ever since (well actually, before) I started using PCs. I was used to my Macs and Amigas, and especially on the Amiga scene since there wasn't much in the way of new hardware being made (apart from getting PPC boards etc), then I think a lot more was made of optimization. Since we have so many raw Mhz and so much RAM in our machines today, most new coders never need to think about making sure that their code runs efficiently.. it's sad. In Vista's case, it is just INSANE though. You're totally right that the OS should be there for support, rather than being the star of the show.

    Having a self replicating machine for the sake of a self replicating machine is pretty pointless. Though maybe that makes life pointless, but angst aside, can't 3D printers already replicate themselves? At least if you build an assembly line in. A self replicating robot let into the wild would just cause havoc with our ecosystems and ravage all the decent raw materials we have :O

    except that Manhunt is incredibly boring.. Soldier of Fortune could be good.. the first one had something like 26 different damage zones, I played the demo a few times just to test them out. I more thought it was cool because of the programming involved, and the ability to make games more tactical, rather than because it was 'killing' people though tbh..

    I think GTA should just be in its own separate 'awesome' category. Flying, driving, cycling, shooting, playing pool, etc. All done with good quality and playability. If you don't like the shooting then there's plenty of fun to be had just from being able to roam around :) It does eventually get old by yourself, but since GTA IV is going to have network play AFAIK, it has a lot of potential..
