Well, in the past by just doing what people ask for, I have ended up wasting a lot of my own time when they then fail to do what they were trying to do and have to ask me more questions. Better to ask what they're trying to do to get to the root of the problem, allowing you both to deal with it as efficiently as possible.
I've love to work for myself, but since I already have a good job I don't think very often about starting my own business. If I was unemployed then I'd definitely give it a go.
Why are these things you want to exist important? Are they more important than actual verifiable transmissions between living beings, like pheromones and such?
He didn't ask it outright, but very often people ask for overly specific answers when they haven't really thought through their actual problem. Sometimes (well, most of the time if you're doing IT support for example) it's better to ask what they're trying to do before giving them the answer to their actual question. Maybe this guy would hate to work for himself, or maybe he just needs a little inspiration.
Even if you prove that the code matches the proof - how do you know that the proof itself doesn't contain some false assumption? That you haven't misunderstood the problem that you're trying to solve? You then have to prove the proof. And so on.
What are we regarding as "potentially harmful" here? Immunization from killer diseases, or side effects from immunization? Why do I get the impression that y'all think vaccines are wrong?
How are you going to guarantee that your software is bug-free? That's like trying to prove that God exists.
Software complexity being what it is today, it's very difficult to make sure that a system is bug free. Even if you didn't rely on other people's libraries, it would be very difficult to do anything non-trivial without introducing some kind of unanticipated behaviour.
Back to the summary, what's wrong with running Windows Server 2003 if it's still getting security updates? Wouldn't it be more likely to be secure than a newer version of Windows Server, which has new features that haven't had as much time to mature?
We got that. Most people only care about following the ball. Anyone who wants more for "tactical" purposes, can go watch and even record a game for themself. This is a dumb conspiracy theory
Morse code rubbing on another person's body will always be superior simply because there is no unfeeling air between you and your communication of your problem. I pity you, who would rather talk to people than risk sexual harassment lawsuits in the pursuit of more personal communication.
What? Who said that was okay? I remember seeing that quote a few weeks ago and commenting how Apple have the same rotten management culture as MS.
I don't respect any company that feels it has to annihilate its competition in order to sell. It suggests that they have run out of ways to innovate (or never had any).
The sad part is that sometimes I think you do actually believe what you're saying. If you do, you just have no idea of Microsoft's history.
We need to slaughter Novell before they get stronger." -Former Microsoft VP James Allchin in a 09-9-91 e-mail (as revealed in Caldera v. Microsoft)
"This really isn't that hard. If you're going to kill someone there isn't much reason to get all worked up about it and angry -- you just pull the trigger. Angry discussions before hand are a waste of time. We need to smile at Novell while we pull the trigger." -Former Microsoft VP James Allchin in a 09-9-91 e-mail (as revealed in Caldera v. Microsoft)
"It is Microsoft's corporate practice to pressure other firms to halt software development that either shows the potential to weaken the applications barrier to entry or competes directly with Microsoft's most cherished software products." -Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson in the Microsoft antitrust trial
"Microsoft has demonstrated that it will use its prodigious market power and immense profits to harm any firm that insists on pursuing initiatives that could intensify competition against one of Microsoft's core products.... The ultimate result is that some innovations that would truly benefit consumers never occur for the sole reason that they do not coincide with Microsoft's self-interest." -Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson in the Microsoft antitrust trial

How about just doing some tutorials? Those ones are pretty old of course, but they're what I used when I was messing around with 3D graphics as a teenager.

that's the anwser to a question he didn't ask.

Don't use RAID, just run a backup onto another large HDD every month or so. Then you'll only have to rip another few discs if you have problems.
Personally, I haven't ripped any DVDs or blu-rays, and I'm hoping to just step over the issue by using services like LoveFilm, Netflix, etc.
Rip discs. Use media center application.

Including you, it seems.
Oops, replied to wrong comment..
After some of the other comments, your own seemed ambiguous to me.

No no no.. it's not the Fatherland, it's "Papa Joe's".

Trust me, you don't want to find out. D-:
Oh no! You have set us up the bomb! :0
I liked the guy commenting on the usefulness of PhDs the other day using "then" instead of "than". Actually, I hated that, but I liked the irony.

He's was born in the same year as Bill Gates.
Steve Jobs didn't seem to do that :p If he did, nobody found out about it. I find it hard to believe that nobody would find out if he did though.

So, cool toys, but they're not going to come stomping down Main Street any time soon, unless they're trailing a reeeeeally long extension cord.
So, kind of like an Eva unit then? :)

This from the guy who claimed "all you need is love". Seems he was wrong on both counts :p
True that. Pizza soothes all. It probably even soothes the shame brought about by your tiny penis.
